Good Luck! ~ Friends For Life No Matter What Happens
“Good Luck!” (aka “Catch Your Luck”) is a 2025 Korean drama series, scheduled to have 120 episodes, categorized as Comedy, Family, and Slice-of-life; available on Viki and KOCOWA+.
SUMMARY: Three men promised in their youth to be best friends for life, but once they reached their 60s, married with kids, and their financial situations were different, they question if their bond of friendship bond will hold or break.
♦ Friends For Life? Until or Unless …
In “Good Luck!”, three (3) friends who vow to be friends for life appear to have a change of heart about that vow when they are much older and have spouses and kids.
Kim Dae-Sik, Choi Kyu-Tae, and Han Mu-Cheol are closer than the legendary trio, the Three Musketeers. Their motto wasn’t “All for one, and one for all!” It was a little bit longer. It went something like:
“From now on, the three of us will never let any one of us, go through life’s ups and downs alone, no matter what.”
Yeah. It was a mouthful. But when they were young, they meant to stick to it. Now that they’re in their 60s …
Friend No. 1: Han Mu-Cheol has done very well financially. But he can’t take all of the credit. His wife’s father helped him buy buildings. But he was diligent and made the investments grow. Even so, his family and friends nicknamed him “K-Scrooge” but think he’s worse than Ebenezer Scrooge. He is such a cheapskate! And he doesn’t cut his friends any slack. Everything for him is Money! Money! Money! He has a son who doesn’t have a job because he believes he can earn money investing in stocks and crypto, but he has not been successful. He has a daughter who wants to be a model, and she is so vain that she has a different boyfriend for every day of the week.
Friend No.2: Choi Kyu-Tae is a real estate agent. He works for Han Mu-Cheol and his job is to keep all the spaces in the building rented out. It’s not an easy job because Han Mu-Cheol has a reputation for being a miserly and grumpy landlord. Once people hear about the landlord, they refuse to sign a lease. This causes him to have financial troubles. He can’t earn a commission if nobody wants to rent. What’s worse is that he is a widower raising his son alone, and the son needs heart surgery. You would think that a best friend who vowed to “go through life’s ups and downs” would be more empathetic and sympathetic. But Han Mu-Cheol takes advantage of him, and unfortunately, Kim Dae-Sik is having extreme financial difficulties.
Friend No. 3: Kim Dae-Sik is married with a son and a daughter. Both of the kids are hard-working and industrious and have ambitious financial goals, but they’re not the greedy type. Kim Dae-Sik and his wife run a chicken restaurant together, but the business is failing. It’s so badthat they don’t even know if they will have food to eat and a roof over their head. His wife went to their daughter and asked for help. Of course, the daughter agreed, but she didn’t realize that her husband had quit “another” job. Her husband doesn’t seem to be able to hold down a job. On the plus side, their son who went to study in Americ,a has come back home. He found an investor for his business, and if everything goes well, it should become a profitable endeavor. In the meantime … ??? … It sure would be nice if Kim Dae-Sik could win a lottery.
The current situation for the three (3) friends is:
Han Mu-Cheol is rich but cheap and does not have a charitable bone in his body.
Choi Kyu-Tae is sweet and kindhearted, but barely manages to keep his head above water, and doesn’t know how he will get the money to pay for his son’s surgery.
Kim Dae-Sik is totally down on his luck and could use a “rescuing angel”.
But that’s today. What about tomorrow? Their luck could change. Will it be good luck?
