Yoona, Lee Chae Min and Kang Han Na confirmed for tvN drama ‘The Tyrant’s Chef’
The Tyrant’s Chef is an upcoming tvN drama that previously starred Park Sung Hoon (Squid Game 2) in the lead role but now the role will be played by Lee Chae Min (Hierarchy) after the former left the drama due to a recent controversy. A strange choice for replacement as the two actors are so different in terms of age and experience. Anyway, the drama is a time travel fantasy sageuk and is based on a web novel.
Yoona (King The Land) stars as a cheerful and determined chef who is offered a job as the head chef of a Michelin 3-star restaurant in Paris. But she mysteriously travels back in time to the Joseon era. There she meets the King, played by Lee Chae Min, who is known to be one of the worst tyrants, but with a great sense of taste. When he somehow tastes the food made by her, he likes it so much that he brings her to the palace to prepare food for him. She starts making fusion palace cuisine for him. Kang Ha Na (Frankly Speaking) plays an ambitious and talented concubine who hides her extreme thirst for power. Choi Gwi Hwa (Squid Game 2) stars as the King’s biggest rival and opponent.
The Tyrant’s Chef is directed by the PD of My Love From The Star (2013) and Knight Flower (2024). It is slated for a premiere in the second half of 2025.
