Yook Sung-jae blushes for Bona in SBS’s The Haunted Palace

The promos continue on SBS with a new character teaser and more stills for the fantasy sageuk The Haunted Palace, leaving Bona (Pyramid Game) feeling terribly conflicted now that her love Yook Sung-jae (The Golden Spoon) is – for the moment – not the (hu)man that she used to know.

Diving into the inner thoughts of our two leads through voiceover, the trailer begins with our shaman heroine Yeo-ri (Bona) explaining the crux of her dilemma. She misses her gentle nobleman Yoon Gab (Yook Sung-jae) with all her heart, but it’s hurtful to see him standing here, right next to her, because this isn’t truly him.

We then get the reveal that the imoogi Kang-cheol (a serpent-like spirit who aspires to become a dragon) has taken possession of Gab’s body. And this makes matters even more cruel for Yeo-ri because Kang-cheol is that which she hates the most and he’s wearing the stolen face of her dearly cherished Gab.

Although we haven’t yet been told how it all happened, it’s amusing to see that Kang-cheol isn’t exactly pleased by the situation himself. Put out by all the heart fluttering ~feelings~ that he cannot control, Kang-cheol is frustrated and confused by Gab’s weak human body. And he even casts the blame on Gab’s human eyes for making him blush with shyness whenever Yeo-ri is around.

With PD Yoon Sung-shik (Cleaning Up, Mr. Queen) at the helm and Yoon Soo-jung (Sassy Go Go) writing, SBS’s The Haunted Palace will be following Buried Hearts in the weekend slot this month, premiering in two weeks on April 18.
