From airport security shenanigans to awkward family moments, it’s clear the Addams family is back—and so is Jenna Ortega as the one and only Wednesday Addams.
The Teaser Trailer kicks off in the most unexpected place: an airport. Wednesday Addams, rolling a carry-on through the terminal like any other goth traveler, sets off the metal detector immediately. A female TSA agent eyes her suspiciously, and Wednesday coolly hands over a pair of brass knuckles.
“Anything else on your person?” the agent asks.
Oh, just a few things. Wednesday casually unloads her weapons stash: nunchucks, taser, dagger, mace, machete, combat knife, axe—and then? A male TSA agent opens her carry-on to discover Thing, her dismembered sidekick hand, lurking inside. The whole scene plays out to a creepy, slowed-down version of The Sound of Music’s “My Favorite Things,” which is both unsettling and perfect for her.
But the cherry on top? After all the weapons, the male guard holds up sunscreen and asks her to explain it. Wednesday, with zero hesitation, gives him a dead-eyed stare and replies:
“Sunscreen? Seriously.” Classic Wednesday.
Next, we catch up with Wednesday in the car with her family—Morticia, Gomez, and Pugsley—looking thoroughly disgusted by her parents’ sickeningly happy marriage. Morticia, completely unfazed by Wednesday’s disdain, says this is the first time she is back at the same school.
The school? Nevermore Academy. And, as fans know, Wednesday has a history of getting expelled from schools everywhere. So she’s not thrilled to return. Of course, she’s mentally wondering, “Why aren’t you divorced like normal parents?”
Once at Nevermore, Morticia asks, “How does it feel?”
To which Wednesday responds, “Like I am back in the scene of the crime.”
In the classroom, Wednesday is greeted by Enid, who says, “Hi, roomie!”
As the trailer progresses, we hear Wednesday ominously declare, “I know where I buried the dead bodies.” A montage follows, full of chaotic imagery: Wednesday covered by pink fog, surrounded by bees; tied to a chair with creepy dolls having a tea party; and later freed while holding a knife, saying, “Let’s play dolls”—likely after murdering the dolls.
She also gifts Enid a doll that looks suspiciously tall. Enid, with a slightly unnerved look, says, “I mean, it’s a little creepy, but the curls are soft,” to which Wednesday deadpans, “It’s made of real human hair.”
The montage moves to a school festival, where Gomez and Morticia share a romantic dance, while Tyler is seen tied up in his prison, only to break free in monster form, chasing Wednesday through the chaos.
The trailer ends with Wednesday looking into the distance and saying, “I do my best in the dark.”
