Spinning a tangled web of red for Lee Soo-hyuk (Queen Woo), Lee Da-hee (The Divorce Insurance), and Arin (Alchemy of Souls 2), the acclaimed dark fantasy S Line has finally announced news about a small screen release, securing a home on the Korean streaming platform Wavve.
Based on the popular webtoon by the same title, the thriller weaves a world that is not unlike the real one. Except of course the existence of these so-called S lines that are only visible to a special few, manifesting as red threads sprouting like puppet strings out of people’s heads – the other end attached to someone who is or was their sexual partner.
Detective Han Ji-wook (Lee Soo-hyuk) is the man on the case, hunting for the truth behind the unfolding chaos when the emergence of special glasses allow wearers to see these otherwise invisible S lines. His investigations then lead him to quirky high school teacher Kyu Jin (Lee Da-hee) as well as student Shin Hyun-heub (Arin). Arin’s character has a special ability — she can see the red threads with her naked eye.
The cast lineup also includes Lee Eun-saem (Bitch x Rich) as Ji-wook’s niece and Hyun-heub’s classmate, in addition to Nam Gyu-hee (Pump Up the Healthy Love), Oh Woo-ri (Dear Hongrang), and Jo Han-chul (Mercy for None) among others.
After a successful world premiere at the Canneseries (Cannes International Series Festival) back in April, the webtoon adaptation was honored with the festival’s Best Music Award, and then featured for a subsequent screening at the Canneseries x Busan event in May.
Launching on Wavve this coming July, production for the 6-episode S Line was led by filmmaker Ahn Joo-young (A Boy and Sungreen) in both directing and scripts – with co-writing by Hwang Ho-gil and Kim Joon-hyun.
