PCCW’s leading pan-regional OTT platform Viu and Korea’s award-winning network SBS have announced season 3 of the global hit “Taxi Driver,” premiering in the fourth quarter of 2025 as a Viu Original worldwide, excluding South Korea and mainland China.
Following the record-breaking season 2, this new installment continues the success of the Korean storytelling franchise while expanding its international production locales and introducing pan-Asian talent.
Lee Je-hoon reprises his iconic role as Kim Do-gi, the brilliant yet tormented vigilante who has captivated audiences around the globe. He is joined by returning fan favorites Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin, and Bae Yoo-ram.
Envisioned by writer Oh Sang-ho and director Kang Bo-seung, the Rainbow Taxi team faces their most dangerous missions yet. Edan Lui of Hong Kong’s top boy group MIRROR makes his Korean drama debut as a character who forms an unpredictable alliance with Kim Do-gi.
“We are delighted to introduce ‘Taxi Driver 3’ through our trusted and long-standing partnership with Viu, a platform with strong global influence and reach,” said Park Jeong-hoon, CEO of Studio S, the in-house production arm of SBS Media Group. “Our production team is working diligently to create a high-quality drama that lives up to the legacy of Seasons 1 and 2, striving to meet and exceed the expectations of viewers.”
Janice Lee, CEO of Viu and Managing Director of PCCW Media Group, said, “Our fresh slate of titles reinforces our commitment to compelling storytelling that resonates locally and travels globally. In 2025, we are bringing new international collaborations such as ‘Taxi Driver 3,’ ‘My Youth,’ and ‘The Season,’ delivering authentic, locally rooted productions with cross-border appeal. By working alongside world-leading studio partners, and by showcasing local and global talent, we hope to continue to support the creative industry while featuring fresh narratives and cultural richness that captivate audiences worldwide.”
On top of “My Youth,” starring global superstar Song Joong-ki, and “The Season,” a soapy, deliciously biting, high-gloss drama set in Hong Kong, Viu’s 2025 slate features diverse local programs. These include 12 new Malay titles, co-produced with leading Malaysian studios such as Rumah Karya Citra and Global Station, as well as premium Indonesian content from the Viu | MAXStream Originals partnership with Telkomsel.
Here are details of Viu’s key offerings for the third quarter of 2023:
“My Youth, from South Korea, is a poignant second-chance romance. Song Joong-ki stars as a reclusive ex-child actor, reunited with his first love — now a driven entertainment executive — forcing them to confront their past and reinvented selves.
Also from South Korea, “My Girlfriend Is a Man!” is a gender-bending romantic comedy. Adapted from the hit webtoon, it features ASTRO’s Yoon San-ha, Oh My Girl’s Arin, Yoo Jung-hoo, and Chuu — formerly of LOONA — in a hilarious clash of love and identity.
“Immortal Ascension,” from China, is a historical fantasy drama. Yang Yang — breakout star of “Fireworks of My Heart” — portrays Han Li, an ordinary boy who defies his humble roots through sheer grit and cunning. Joining a martial arts sect, he ascends from mediocrity to celestial mastery.
A contemporary romance of love and self-discovery, “Love’s Ambition’ is also from China. Internet celebrity Xu Yan (Zhao Lu Si) and urban elite Shen Haoming (William Chan) are the perfect couple – until their different worlds pull them apart.
“Rintik Terakhir” is a psychological romance sequel to the hit Indonesian series “Aku Tak Membenci Hujan.” Karang, a brilliant teenager living with dual personalities after trauma, fights to reclaim his love while confronting past grudges and his own dark side.
Also from Indonesia, “Secret High School” is a teen thriller set in an elite underground school. Two students investigate the disappearance of their sister and discover an organ-trafficking ring hidden behind an exchange-student program.
“Seadanya Kita” is a turbulent age-gap romance. Malaysia’s heartthrob Mierul Aiman and powerhouse Emma Maembong star as an unlikely couple — a single mom and a rebellious rockstar — whose love is thrown into chaos when her vengeful ex demands custody of their son.
“Putri & Phrince” is a social media romance. A fresh, addictive teen romance blending high school drama and digital-age fame — directed by Liyana Jasmay and starring Malaysia’s hottest rising talents.
