Will Earl is an illustrator with a long resume, but he’s perhaps better known for his D&D Shorts series on YouTube and other platforms, where he teaches both new and seasoned tabletop adventurers the mechanics and intricacies of D&D. It’s about time he combined his two interests together, don’t you think?

Presenting The Game Master’s Deck of Wild Magic and Mischief — a new volume of the bestselling Game Master Series that utilizes Earl’s mastery of D&D arcana to introduce dozens and dozens of crazy new spells and abilities. The book is designed to be fully 5E compatible.

To give players a better idea of what they’re in for, the book comes with forty tarot-styled cards illustrated by Earl that depict each spell in living color, as well as an 88-page companion guide for more detailed explanations. The GM can lay the cards down at will to spice up a battle, or the crew can draw the cards from a random deck for some real unpredictability.

Wild Magic and Mischief is not Earl’s first D&D-related book — he collaborated with Ginny Di on an earlier Game Masters volume, Boons And Banes. The book contained twenty new cards illustrating powerful abilities (the boons) and twenty more introducing dangerous obstacles (the banes). This new book works in a similar way.
