Bitch x Rich 2 (1-2): I swear, Hye-in has the worst luck. Witnesses someone falling off a roof, gets persuaded into taking her clothes off, gets blackmailed with a video of that, witnesses another person falling off a roof, becomes a murder suspect because of that, gets bullied, and then gets a school violence allegation thrown at her by the bully. Like, I know she’s literally in the lion’s den, but she really can’t get a single break. Her dad getting on his knees (with her then joining) to beg was probably not the best idea, but I can’t even be mad because he’s just a father worried for his daughter (though he probably doesn’t even know half of what she’s going through). A bit sad though that the Hye-in/ Je-na relationship has taken a few steps backwards, especially from Je-na’s side, but at least they successfully made a deal, placing Hye-in in the Diamond 6 (and apparently kicking Do-eon out, whoops). Let the games begin!
Hunter With A Scalpel (9-12): Seems like the rabbit hole that Se-hyun fell into isn’t as deep or dark as I originally thought. She might be able to crawl her way out (even if she has less fingers now I guess), but I wonder where that leaves Se-eun. Se-hyun had meaningful connections in her life from people that loved her, which probably saved her, but what about Se-eun? Se-hyun might just be the one person capable of saving Se-eun. I just hope she remembers the watch, and that when they ultimately defeat daddy dearest, they make sure he’s actually dead so this vicious cycle never repeats itself.
Our Unwritten Seoul (11-12): Unpopular opinion: episode 11 was fine, but I didn’t really like the finale. It was overly long, except it didn’t really have much left to say. Even Ho-soo’s hearing basically became a trivial thing after the leads got back together, as if that suddenly fixes every problem. Just feels like they took the easy road out. Every character basically had a satisfying endpoint, one that kickstarts a new chapter in their lives, except that wasn’t the ending, because the finale just kept going and going and going. I like extended happy endings, but this was way too much of a good thing, that I honestly started to become bored. Also, the drama seemed to give us yet another update on literally everyone in the epilogue, yet it couldn’t actually give us another scene between the twins? Sigh…
Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung (13-17): I really liked episodes 13 & 14 with the theme of Catholicism etc, but I didn’t really care for the romantic angst in episodes 15 & 16. And it didn’t help that Rim just annoyed me to no end here. I totally except a happy ending here, but I just hope it’s one that doesn’t go against Hae-ryung’s values.
