The year is 1935 in Disney+’s latest supernatural series Delusion and we’re introduced to the period mystery in the first script reading stills, with Suzy (Doona) and Kim Sun-ho (When Life Gives You Tangerines) – reuniting after Start-Up – to play our leads.
The story is adapted from a popular webtoon by the same title, set during tumultuous times in history when the Japanese had annexed the Korean peninsula. Here, in Gyeongseong (Seoul in present day), we meet our dark heroine Song Jung-hwa (Suzy), a woman shrouded in shadows and who is known to be the owner of our tale’s Nammoon Hotel. But rumors are whispered about her true identity for Jung-hwa has remained hidden from the world for half a century.
Enter the talented artist Yoon Yi-ho (Kim Sun-ho), who is one day commissioned to paint her portrait. Presumably he’s being well paid, though, because he’s locked up in the secretive Nammoon for the duration of his job. He thus approaches his work with a mix of fear and determination, feeling anxious about his spooky surroundings while also enthralled by his beautiful but vampiric host.
Although not officially confirmed, previous reports indicated that Choi Hyun-wook (My Dearest Nemesis) and Heo Jun-ho (Buried Hearts) had joined the cast as well. However, their character details have not yet been disclosed.
In addition, Kim Young-kwang (The Haunted Palace) is expected to make a special guest appearance and is said to be playing the role of an old and powerful vampire named, K. Ticking off another supernatural being on Kim Young-kwang’s actor checklist, K is described as being Jung-hwa’s father and a villainous killer.
Slated to release sometime in 2026, production for Disney+’s Delusion began filming last month with filmmaker and PD Han Jae-rim (The 8 Show, Emergency Declaration) at the helm, handling both directing and scripts.
