Sharing lunch hour with Lee Jong-seok and friends in Law and the City

It’s lawyer lunchtime with our quintet of Law and the City, tvN’s office romance featuring five attorney friends from different firms who come together for a meal every day. After all, there’s nothing better than comfort food to get you through a tiring day of work — especially when good company makes it all taste even better. Our lunchmates are Lee Jong-seok (Big Mouth) and Moon Ga-young (My Dearest Nemesis), alongside Kang Yoo-seok (Resident Playbook), Ryu Hye-young (Gangnam B-Side), and Im Sung-jae (Newtopia).

Picking up from where we left off mid-week, we join our crew for their Wednesday lunch. In a cozy, sunlit restaurant, Ha Sang-ki (Im Sung-jae) helpfully sprinkles seasoning onto his friends’ plates. “It’s tastier when it’s salty,” Sang-ki insists, ignoring their requests for just a pinch. To that, Moon-jung (Ryu Hye-young) warns him to be careful or diabetes will be on its way. “It’s already here,” quips Sang-ki. LOL. So much for healthy living…

Next comes Thursday, and our pals gather once again to tuck into their midday meal. It seems the stress of their caseload might be weighing on them, since lunch is mostly a quiet affair this time around. Kang Hee-ji (Moon Ga-young) silently slices into her tonkatsu, while Ahn Joo-hyung (Lee Jong-seok) shakes pepper into his soup. As if following suit, Hee-ji is next to pick up the pepper shaker. Then our lively maknae Jo Chang-won (Kang Yoo-seok) calls out to ask for more pickles.

Before we know it, the week is already drawing to a close. For their Friday grub, though, our quintet decide to wind down after work with a simple home dinner. Gathered around boxes of takeout pizza, they toast to a job well done — and aww, Joo-hyung and Hee-ji lower their cups in near-perfect unison. Perhaps it’s a sneak peek of the romantic chemistry that will soon blossom between them?

Led by PD Park Seung-woo (Adamas, Kairos) with scripts written by real-life lawyer Lee Seung-hyun, Law and the City is slated for a July 5 premiere in the Saturday-Sunday time slot.
