Seohyun knows all about the First Night With the Duke Taecyeon

KBS has dropped a second teaser for its upcoming webtoon adaptation The First Night With the Duke starring background character Seohyun (Song of the Bandits) with her leading man Taecyeon (Heartbeat). As an ordinary fangirl gets transplanted into a novel, her presence throws everything off in his world meant to follow a linear path.

Her leisurewear and comfy bed get exchanged for an elaborate hanbok and dirt roads as our leading lady gets dropped into the world of a novel she’s reading. Whether it be a stroke of luck or the first sign of disaster, she now occupies the body of noblewoman Cha Seon-chaek (Seohyun), an otherwise unremarkable side character who barely gets mentioned in the main plot.

While this new Seon-chaek worries about her fate if she cannot find a way out, death might not be the only option on the table. As she catches the eye of the novel’s main character Yi Beon (Taecyeon), they share a steamy, R-rated night, and now the man who should be in love with someone else has his heart set for Seon-chaek.

Since they have spent the night together, Yi Beon believes they should get married, but Seon-chaek disagrees. It was merely a fling on her part, and our amateur mixologist has no plans of getting hitched.

Her rejection is rejected by Yi Beon who is not used to losing in life or on the battlefield, and once he decides on something, he will not back down. His only goal is to woo Seon-chaek, but his opponent is basically an omniscient narrator who knows how the story will end. While she may have stirred his heart already, Seon-chaek has no intentions of meddling with the predetermined plot anymore.

Directed by PDs Lee Woong-hee (My Perfect Stranger) and Kang Soo-yeon with scripts penned by Jeon Sun-young, KBS’s The First Night With the Duke is slated for twelve episodes and premieres June 11 in the Wednesday-Thursday slot.
