Sega May Be Considering A Sonic Theme Park | popgeeks.com

If you can remember far back enough, you can recall the days when Nintendo and Sega were rivals and one always had to keep pace with the other. Things aren’t that way anymore, but now that Nintendo has their own theme park within Universal Studios, that may have lit a bit of jealousy at the House of Sonic.

Roberta Perry, president of the business development company Roberta Perry & Associates, was the recent subject of an interview with Attractions Magazine. It was during this interview she let slip that she’s been developing ideas with Sega for a possible theme park of their own. “This is the first time they’ve been in the location-based entertainment marketplace in the United States,” Perry said. As for what kind of attractions Sega would put in such a park, well, duh. “Lots of Sonic the Hedgehog,” she mentioned.

Like Super Nintendo World, Super Sega World (or whatever they decide to call it) would be built in multiple locations aronnd the world. “We’re developing projects here, as well as in Europe, Japan, and South America. I’ve only been as far south as Columbia, and I’ll get to go further into South America, so I’m looking forward to that.” Perry has the past experience to make it happen: she was actually one of the people who worked on Super Nintendo World, as well as the How to Train Your Dragon: The Isle of Berk attraction.

Keep in mind, though, these are just talks and Sega has not formally announced a theme park. Nothing could come of this, and then again, something could. Perhaps we’ll ride the quills of a Sonic-shaped rollercoaster sometime next decade.
