Sea Of Stars: Throes Of The Watchmaker DLC Now Arriving May 20th

If you enjoyed Sea of Stars, Sabotage Studio’s love letter to the 16-bit glory days of action RPGs, I have news: you haven’t played it all no matter how thoroughly you searched each area. A DLC chapter is on the way, and the best news is that you won’t have to pay for it. What they’re calling Throes Of The Watchmaker will be free to anyone who owns a copy of the game.

Discover a miniature clockwork world in this free DLC for the critically-acclaimed and multi-award-winning RPG Sea of Stars. Gear up for a journey full of oddities and wonders, in which Valere and Zale will have to play by new rules to stop a cursed carnival. Zale will transform into a skilful juggler, while Valere will dazzle as an acrobat. Together with new playable character Arty, they’ll explore new areas, traverse new dungeons and encounter new enemies, bosses and puzzles in their quest to save the world of Horloge. The DLC will also support the upcoming local co-op mode, allowing players to team up with up to two others for a group adventuring session. A malevolent spectacle awaits with Sea of Stars – Throes of the Watchmaker DLC.

“We hope you’re as excited as we are, because the playtest results are in and it clocks over 8 hours of completely new content!” boasts Sabotage. “The scope of this DLC went way beyond what we initially envisioned, which was only made possible through the warm and overwhelming response we have been blessed with.”

Sabotage also mentioned they would be hosting a live playthrough of Throes Of The Watchmaker, but by the time we received their PR message, the stream had already taken place. Sabotage says an archived VOD version of that stream has been made available on their Twitch channel, so all is not lost, we guess.

Sea Of Stars: Throes Of The Watchmaker will be free to download for owners of the game May 20, 2025. This includes all versions, consoles and PC.
