Romance drama ‘Motel California’ premieres today with Lee Se Young and Na In Woo
I’m keen to check out the new MBC drama Motel California despite its overdone premise of ‘exes to lovers’. The reason — it stars charming Lee Se Young and I’m liking the general vibe. The drama is based on a 2019 novel Home, Bitter Home by writer Shim Yun Seo. The screen adaptation is penned by the screenwriter of dramas 365: Repeat The Year (2020) and Swallow The Sun (2009).
Motel California stars Lee Se Young as an interior designer who was born and raised in a rural motel called Motel California. She faced difficulties while growing up due to her mixed heritage. She ran away from home one day to find success and happiness. She returns home after 12 years and reconnects with her childhood friend and first love, played by Na In Woo (Marry My Husband). He is now a veterinarian in the rural area. Choi Min Soo (Numbers) plays Lee Se Young’s father and the owner of the motel. Kim Tae Hyung (Decoy) stars as the manager of an interior design company that’s doing a motel remodeling project in the rural town. He is also an heir from a wealthy family but has carved out his own path. Completing the love square is Choi Hee Jin (The Impossible Heir) who plays a kind-hearted veterinarian who is the hero’s junior.
The drama premieres today on MBC in the slot of Fridays and Saturdays. It has a total of 12 episodes.
