Disney+

This July 18, stars Lee Dong-wook and Lee Sung-kyung return to Disney+ in “The Nice Guy,” an all-new, fourteen-part Korean drama about a reformed gangster trying to escape his past.

Born into the third generation of a family of gangsters, Seok-cheol grew up knowing nothing but the thrill of violence and unwavering family loyalty. Seen by others as nothing more than a thug, Seok-cheol secretly harbors a dream of sailing off into the sunset to become an author like Ernest Hemingway.

Torn between his love for his family and a desire for something more, Seok-cheol finds himself further tested when he reconnects with his first love, Mi-young — an aspiring singer with crippling stage fright.

Supporting each other on the road to achieving their dreams, will they be able to break free and find happiness, or will they be forced to succumb to fear and the weight of their past?

Starring “A Shop for Killers” lead Lee Dong-wook and “Dr. Romantic 3” star Lee Sung-kyung, this fourteen-part series pits dreams against reality and loyalty against ambition.

Lee Dong-wook plays Seok-cheol, the eldest grandson of a powerful crime family, while Lee Sung-kyung takes on the role of Kang Mi-young, a struggling singer from a troubled home. “The Nice Guy” is written by Kim Woon-kyung (“Yuna’s Street,” “The Duo”) and Kim Hyo-seok (“Yadang: The Snitch”), and directed by Song Hae-sung (“One Day,” “Boomerang Family”).

“The Nice Guy” is the latest K-drama announced as part of Disney+’s growing lineup of Korean originals. Fans can also look forward to upcoming titles like “Delusion” (working title), about a vampire in mourning; “Low Life,” which follows backstabbing degenerates desperate to recover a life-changing treasure; and “Tempest,” which centers on a diplomat and a special agent racing to uncover the truth behind an attack that threatens the stability of the Korean peninsula.

Catch “The Nice Guy” starting July 18 on Disney+.
