Rain and Kim Ha Neul are set to be paired in an upcoming Disney+ series, “Red Swan.” During their press conference, the two talked about their characters and how they prepared for their roles.
Rain described bodyguard Seo Do Yeon as someone who “induces a strong presence.” He shared how the role he is playing had few lines, hence, he needed to add “more weight” to his delivery. He shared, “The instructor really helped me out. I tried to control my tone of voice and my detailed acting.”
Rain will also have a lot of action scenes. On preparing for these, he made sure that his movements would “would look really impactful,” while also continuously discussing his ideas with the director—who even complimented him, saying, “Ji Hoon [Rain’s birth name] has a lot of great ideas.”
Kim Ha Neul, on the other hand, stars as Oh Wan Soo, who is a goodwill ambassador. She shared that she observed people in the same field and “learned from their gestures and their mindset.” She continued, “How I look was very important, so I focused on being presentable and how to dress.” She also made sure that her character would “exude grace and charisma.”
Additionally, Oh Wan Soo is a top golf player. Regarding how she practised, she stated: “That’s the tricky part. I did play a little bit of golf in the past… but no matter how hard I practice, I felt that couldn’t quite pull it off.” Hence, to prefect her role’s craft, she made sure to “check on herself on screen” and make necessary adjustments.
Rain, however, complemented her portrayal. He said [as someone who is playing a character with fewer lines], “She is a professional. The amount of lines that she has [to memorize]… it was almost robotic [in a good way].” He also added how their banter is something that’s “amazing to see.”
“Red Swan” will have a total of 10 episodes, releasing two episodes every Wednesday starting this July 3.
