Queen’s House ~ This is Not the Life I Dreamed About
“Queen’s House”, released in 2025, is a soap opera-type daily Korean drama set to have 100 (30-minute) episodes, categorized as Revenge, Romance, Crime, and Thriller; streaming on Viki and KOCOWA+.
SUMMARY: A woman’s life is turned upside-down and inside-out when she is betrayed by her husband and her best friend. They stole her beautiful life from her and she plans to destroy everything they thought they would enjoy together.
♦ A Betrayal Like This Deserves Merciless Revenge
In “Queen’s House”, Kang Jae-In is a happily married wife and a loving mother. She comes from a wealthy background, and her mother always insists on reminding her that her husband, Hwang Ki-Chan, is from a different class and is not “worthy” of her. Her mother also takes the opportunity whenever she can to remind her son-in-law that he’s not that important. He’s only accepted, or rather allowed to be a part of the family, because her daughter insisted on marrying him.
Kang Jae-In does not believe in class differences. She has this silly notion that everyone is equal. She even lets her son attend a public school instead of sending him to a prestigious private school. Every morning is Kang Jae-In’s favorite part of the day because she can spend some precious, quality time with her husband before he goes to work. Even though they work at the same company, they don’t go to work together. She drops her son off at school first.
Hwang Ki-Chan goes to work separately and comes back home separately. During the day when he should be at work, he’s meeting with Kang Se-Ri, his lover and his wife’s best friend. Yes, she knows he’s married, but … what’s marriage got to do with it? She says she’s in love! Hwang Ki-Chan says he’s mesmerized by her.
Mesmerized?? Yes. He’s so mesmerized that his only son was kidnapped from school, and when his wife tried to call him, he didn’t answer his phone because he was too busy in the hotel bed being “mesmerized”. When he finally arrived at home from “work”, they told him the news. Their son had been kidnapped, and a ransom of $2 million was being demanded. Did he feel guilty that he was in bed enjoying himself with another woman while his son had been kidnapped and nobody knew if the child was dead or alive? Oh sure! He felt guilty for about …. eh! … 2 seconds.
Arrangements were made to pay the ransom. They were told to go to a park and make the exchange. But the kidnapper underestimated the intelligence of the young child. When the kidnappers got out of the car to talk on the phone to his parents, since he wasn’t tied up, the little boy got out of the car too. By the time they noticed, the boy took off running, and the kidnappers had to chase after him.
It was a public park with a trail, and Kim Do-Yoon was out exercising. He was running along a path, saw the little boy running, and then saw 2 men running after him. That looked very suspicious, so he ran after them. At the same time, he was on the phone calling the police to let them know he was chasing the men and believed the child was in danger.
Kim Do-Yoon was able to save the kidnapped child. The kidnappers were caught, they did not get the ransom money, and most importantly, the child was safely delivered back to his parents. Kang Jae-In and Hwang Ki-Chan offered to reward him, but he refused and went on his way.
- The lives of four people have now intersected ~ Kang Jae-In, Hwang Ki-Chan, Kang Se-Ri, and Kim Do-Yoon. They may have dreamed of living a certain life, but tragic and painful events will occur, and the paths they were taking for their lives will change course dramatically.

In “Queen’s House”, the dividing line was clearly drawn in the first episode. By the second episode, I had already chosen sides and was imagining all of the different ways to get revenge. Those nasty adulterers deserve anything and everything bad that happens to them! No mercy! LOL. Yeah. It’s a typical daily drama that keeps stuff going on just like in the American soap operas. The only thing missing is dramatic organ or piano music in the background.
I have to add that the female lead is one of my favorite South Korean actresses, Ham Eun-Jung. Even though I have not been able to see a lot of her work, the K-dramas that I have seen left an impression. I think she’s fabulous! She started in the entertainment business at the age of seven and has had a very busy and productive career. Just watch any movie or series where she is part of the cast, and you’ll become an instant fan.
