Time slot: Fridays (4 drops of 4 episodes)
Broadcaster: Netflix
Genre: Period, romance, slice-of-life
Episode count: 16
Reasons to watch: In what’s looking like a gorgeous and sweeping production, When Life Gives You Tangerines follows the story of our two main characters — primarily played by IU and Park Bo-gum — beginning with their childhood in the 1950s on Jeju. The saga follows them as they go through the ups and downs of life together, and everything about this drama just screams I want to be a big hit for Netflix quality.
The older versions of our leads are played by Moon Sori and Park Hae-joon, and they’re joined by Choi Dae-hoon, Oh Jung-se, and Eom Ji-won, just to name a few. In an interesting bit of programming, the drama won’t drop all at once, or in year-apart seasons. Instead, each week we will get a 4-episode “volume” that follows a season in the pair’s life. I’m all for this high-concept drop, and here’s hoping this thing’s a gem.
TL;DR: IU x Park Bo-gum OTP
