Reasons to watch: JTBC’s newest police drama touches on all the familiar beats of the genre, but adds a sports twist to keep things fresh. Heo Sung-tae (who only seems to play cops or criminals these days) is the leader of a newly-formed police unit. The new unit is unconventional in several ways, with the most notable one being the main eligibility requirement: an Olympic medal. Heo, a medallist-turned-detective, wants to approach crime in a new way and figures that former elite athletes will be able to bring that elite mindset to police work. It’s a mixed bag, with (hopefully) highly comedic results.
Park Bo-gum has both his job prospects and love on his mind when he joins up with Heo Sung-tae. His first love, Kim So-hyun, is also a part of the unit and while he tries to reignite that flame, he faces competition from another member of the team, Lee Sang-yi.
What they lack in crime-fighting experience, they make up for with fighting spirit. Our protagonists are all eager to recapture their glory days, back when they were hailed as heroes and received plaudits everywhere they went. And with Oh Jung-se as a criminal bigwig lurking in the background, they’ll have their work cut out for them.
TL;DR: A cast full of stars and scene-stealers, with Park Bo-gum cranking the cuteness and toughness up to 11.
