Playtonic Vows Yooka-Replaylee Will Release In 2025

Last summer Playtonic Games promised we’d get to replay Yooka-Laylee as Yooka-Replaylee, but they didn’t reveal when. Now, with the arrival of a new video, Playtonic has stated they plan to get the revamped 3D adventure out the door and into your living quarters by the end of this year. They swear!

To pull that off, they’ve announced a partnership with PM Studios, who will serve as co-publisher. “Yooka-Laylee was always our love letter to the golden age of platformers, and Yooka-Replaylee is a love letter to that love letter. PM Studios innately understands this,” says Playtonic CEO Gavin Price. “They’re a perfect partner for Playtonic Friends as we enter this next stage of our journey with the game.”

Playtonic released a new gameplay video today showing off all the work they’ve done. While at first there seems to be nothing new here beyond a fresh coat of 4K paint, we did meet a new character named Coineleus — a yellow ghost who is also a pig. Seems that wherever you find Coineleus, you’ll be able to play new stages of pure platforming skill that will allow you to amass major coinage you can spend through Vendi.

Yooka-Replaylee will be released later this year for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and “Nintendo platforms” (take that to mean what you will).
