Amplitude Studios has made several video games that take place in a world they call “The Endless Universe.” When I first read the word “Endless” I thought of Neil Gaiman and my next thought was “uh, have these guys kept up with the news?” But no, this is something unrelated.
Amplitude seems to have taken notice of all the video game properties that have had successful animated adaptions lately, and wants a piece of that pie. Thanks to a new deal with Paris-based animation studio Passion Pictures, that pie is now in the oven. An animated series “based in the Endless universe” is now in development.
The Endless Universe is a series of science-fantasy video games that build their lore off an extinct god-like civilization called ‘The Endless’. There are currently five games in the series: ENDLESS Space, ENDLESS Legend, Dungeon of the ENDLESS, ENDLESS Space 2, and ENDLESS Dungeon. There is a sixth on the way: ENDLESS Legend 2, a fantasy turn-based strategy game set to release later this year.
Passion’s recent work includes 400 Boys, an episode of Netflix’s Love, Death + Robots directed by Robert Valley, and Not a Box, a new preschool series that launches today on Apple TV+.
“We’re so excited to be stepping into the ENDLESS universe,” says Caroline Audebert, MD/Executive Producer at PASSION Paris. “Amplitude has built a world that’s rich with lore, characters and atmosphere and we’re working closely with their team to develop a visual style and storytelling approach that captures what players already love about the series, while opening the door to new stories and audiences.”
“ENDLESS is a universe we’ve been shaping with passion for years, hand in hand with our community,” adds Romain de Waubert de Genlis, CEO and co-founder at Amplitude Studios. “Seeing it take a new leap forward through this partnership with PASSION PICTURES is truly a dream come true. We’re proud of this collaboration and can’t wait to see the adventure come to life in a whole new format.”
Passion’s Endless project is early in development and little is known about it at this time. More announcements are expected in the months ahead.
