tvN has announced the cast for its retro office comedy Miss Undercover Boss (working title). Set in the late 1990s during the Asian Financial Crisis (which is usually referred to as the IMF Cisis in Korea), the show follows the humorous adventures of its heroine as she goes undercover as a new recruit to find out where a suspicious flow of funds is headed.

Park Shin-hye (The Judge From Hell) stars as the titular undercover boss Hong Geum-bo, an elite supervisor for the Financial Supervisory Service. Devoted to her work, Geum-bo is a coolheaded career woman in her thirties, but thanks to her youthful appearance, she goes undercover as a twenty-something high school graduate entering the workforce for the first time. The change will definitely be jarring for Geum-bo, but in order to uncover the shady happenings at a securities firm, she will need to hide her identity to get a closer look inside.

Opposite the undercover boss is Go Kyung-pyo (Frankly Speaking) as Shin Jung-woo, the CEO of Hanmin Securities Firm. He believes in only numbers and will do anything to achieve his goals. In their twenties, he once fell in love with Geum-bo, so when she returns under a new name, Jung-woo is left confused by the familiar face.

Also in the cast is Ha Yoon-kyung (Gangnam B-Side) who will be playing the head secretary of Hanmin Securities, Go Bok-hee. Working in an environment void of color, Bok-hee struts with confidence in her bold outfits. She acts tough on the outside but is actually a sweetheart and is known as the “big sis” in the dormitory Geum-bo infiltrates.

Lastly, Jo Han-gyeol (The Haunted Palace) plays nepo baby Albert Oh, the grandson of the chairman of Hanmin Securities. He is a self-proclaimed cinephile and “orange gen” (a term used to describe rich Gen X kids in Korea during the ’90s who were known for overconsumption). He has no interest in management, but when he sees “old for her years” new hire Geum-bo, he suddenly feels motivated to try.

Written by Moon Hyun-kyung (Memorials) with PD Park Sun-ho (Brewing Love, Business Proposal) at the helm, tvN’s Miss Undercover Boss will air early next year.
