A new school with new faces, yet the problems remain the same for Park Ji-hoon (Love Song for Illusion) as our bullied protagonist Yeon Shi-eun in Netflix’s Weak Hero Class 2. After a traumatizing first season, Shi-eun must navigate another world of bullies, but fortunately, not everyone is a foe.
The newest trailer opens with Shi-eun walking past a throng of students as someone informs him that all the nearby school gangs have unionized. They operate like a crime syndicate, controlling turf and using violence to suppress, but our young hero is done cowering. He confronts the leader Na Baek-jin – played by Bae Nara (Evilive) – and threatens to kill them all if he sees him again.
Life at this new school, however, is not completely terrible since Ryeoun (The History of Losers) offers a semblance of peace as protector Park Hoo-Min. Nicknamed Baku, Hoo-min’s strength keeps the others in line, and he assures Shi-eun not to worry about the union.
Alas, Baek-jin has other plans in mind and will not be backing down so easily. Despite Hoo-min’s refusal to join the union, Baek-jin still considers him a friend and keeps the door open if he changes his mind. It seems unlikely, though, for Hoo-min to switch sides since he sticks with Shi-eun in their upcoming fight to end all fights.
As our young hero faces against new bullies Yoo Soo-bin (The Perfect Deal) and Lee Jun-young (When Life Gives You Tangerines), he also has allies in the form of Choi Min-young (XO, Kitty, Twenty Five Twenty One) and Lee Min-jae (Kick Kick Kick Kick). A brawl breaks out between the two sides, and the trailer ends with Shi-eun running in the rain looking determined.
Directed by PD Yoo Soo-min (Weak Hero Class 1) who also co-wrote the script with Park Hyun-woo, Netflix’s Weak Hero Class 2 is slated for eight episodes and premieres April 25.
