The OP Games, the folks who brought you Peanuts Clue, have brought out something a little more conventional this week: a dice / card game starring X-Men characters. Marvel X-Men Dice Throne is being released this week nationwide.
Your and your friends assume the identities of the X-Men, each with their own unique set of dice, player boards and custom deck of cards. Gameplay is mainly through dice-rolling as attacks, abilities and points are determined through random numbers. It’s the points that are where the cards come into play, as you need them to purchase upgrades to make your mutant even more powerful. Each session of Marvel X-Men Dice Throne takes around thirty minutes to play.
“We aimed to capture the thrill of the X-Men universe while integrating the beloved mechanics of Dice Throne, resulting in a game that is both strategic and accessible,” says Dane Chapin, CEO of The Op Games. The game is for two to six players, yet only four X-Men are advertised as playable: Iceman, Psylocke, Storm, and Wolverine.
