News bites: March 20, 2025

  • Netflix has announced production for True Lessons (working title, previously Get Schooled), releasing stills from the first script reading led by Kim Mu-yeol (Queen Woo), Lee Sung-min (The Queen Who Crowns), Jin Ki-joo (Undercover High School), and Pyo Ji-hoon (a.k.a. P.O.) (Good Partner). Creating a fictional government agency to tackle the issues bedraggling Korea’s education system, the webtoon adaptation has PD Hong Jong-chan (Mr. Plankton, Juvenile Justice) at the helm with scripts by Lee Nam-kyu (Daily Dose of Sunshine). • Yoo Seon-ho (The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract) has been added to the cast of MBC’s fantasy comedy Oh My Ghost Clients, becoming a part-timer at the convenience store frequented by our ghost-seer attorney Jung Kyung-ho (Crash Course in Romance). Expected to air on weekends starting May, our hero will soon be teaming up with sister-in-law Seol In-ah (Twinkling Watermelon) and content creator Cha Hak-yeon (Castaway Diva) to fearfully help their supernatural clientele. • ENA dropped a new poster for their black comedy New Recruit 3, assembling soldiers Kim Min-ho (Doona), Kim Dong-joon (The Goryeo-Khitan War), and Oh Dae-hwan (Unmasked), among others in our main troop. Adapted from the popular animation series by the same title, the upcoming third season will be coming to our screens on April 7, following Mother and Mom in the Monday-Tuesday slot. [MBC]
  • Promos continue on tvN as well, where Lee Dong-wook (A Shop for Killers) partners with Lee Joo-bin (Tarot), Lee Kwang-soo (No Way Out – The Roulette), and Lee Da-hee (Island) to create their company’s The Divorce Insurance in the latest teaser. With the office comedy’s premiere now less than two weeks away, it’s crunch time for our leads as they quickly punch in all their numbers before the insurance sales launch on March 31. [10 Asia]

  • SBS released a batch of character stills as they look ahead to April, when Yook Sung-jae (The Golden Spoon) and Bona (Pyramid Game) will be summoned to Haunted Palace. Tasked by king Kim Ji-hoon (Death’s Game) to fight the evil spirits lurking on Joseon’s royal grounds, the supernatural sageuk will be spooking over the weekend slot after Buried Hearts concludes its run. • KBS has also posted new stills, pairing gym director and personal trainer Lee Jun-young (When Life Gives You Tangerines) with new gym registrant Jung Eun-ji (Miss Night and Day) in the sports rom-com 24-Hour Health Club. Co-directed by PD Park Joon-soo (Gaus Electronics) and PD Choi Yeon-soo, with Kim Ji-soo (Birthcare Center) writing, we have some time to stretch our drama muscles before the story workout begins on April 30.
