New Korean Dramas: March 2025

AdminMarch 8, 2025

March is bringing a wide range of Korean dramas — the genres including comedy, romance, fantasy, drama, thriller and more! Here is a list of the shows that you can look forward to this month:

The Potato Lab

Premiere Date: March 1

Network: tvN, Netflix

Stars: Kang Tae Oh (Extraordinary Attorney Woo), Lee Sun Bin (Boyhood)

Slot: Saturday & Sunday

Number Of Episodes: 12

Genre: Romance, Comedy

Synopsis: A love story set in a rural potato research institute, between a researcher whose life revolves entirely around potatoes and a cold and principled corporate director.

Thoughts: This one looks super cute and the premise of a potato research lab definitely adds freshness to a typical rom-com plot.

Mother And Mom / Riding Life

Premiere Date: March 3

Network: ENA

Stars: Jeon Hye Jin (Not Others), Jun Suk Ho (Love Next Door), Jo Min Soo (The Cursed), Jeong Jin Yeong (Queen Of Tears)

Slot: Monday & Tuesday

Number Of Episodes: 8

Genre: Comedy, Family, Romance

Synopsis: A single working mother asks her mother to drive her daughter to private coaching institutes in order to prepare for the entrance test for top English-language academies. The drama explores the intense world of early childhood education and the pressures of private tutoring.

Thoughts: This one sounds like a realistic but light-hearted take on the struggles of working moms and children in the intense academic environment. But I just recently watched the coaching world (lots of it) in The Midnight Romance In Hangwon, so I might watch this show at a later time. While that drama showed everything from the teachers’ POV, this one takes the point of view of the parent. The drama has a solid cast too.

When Life Gives You Tangerines

Premiere Date: March 7

Network: Netflix

Stars: IU (Hotel Del Luna), Park Bo Gum (Record Of Youth), Moon So Ri (Race), Park Hae Joon (The World Of The Married)

Slot: All episodes released together

Number Of Episodes: 16

Genre: Romance, Drama

Synopsis: In Jeju, a spirited girl and a steadfast boy’s island story blossoms into a lifelong tale of setbacks and triumphs — proving love endures across time.

Thoughts: This show was a no-brainer to add to my watchlist — because of the lovely cast and the PD of acclaimed shows like Misaeng, Signal and My Mister. The plot looks like a love story filled with warmth, simplicity and thoughtfulness.

The Art Of Negotiation

Premiere Date: March 8

Network: JTBC

Stars: Lee Je Hoon (Chief Detective 1958), Kim Dae Myung (Hospital Playlist), Lee Chae Won (Queenmaker), Sung Dong Il (Han River Police)

Slot: Saturday & Sunday

Number Of Episodes: 12

Genre: Drama, Business

Synopsis: It’s about an M&A expert, who is known as a legendary negotiator, as he leads his team through high-stakes corporate challenges.

Thoughts: I’m actually surprised that this workplace tale is being directed by PD Ahn Pan Seok, who has made romantic dramas like The Midnight Romance In Hangwon, Something In The Rain, One Spring Night and Secret Love Affair. It will be interesting to see his moody, subtle style in a different genre. Also, this show is laced with an amazing group of actors — another highlight.

Hyper Knife

Premiere Date: March 19

Network: Disney+

Stars: Park Eun Bin (Castaway Diva), Sul Kyung Gu (The Whirlwind), Park Byung Eun (The Bequeathed), Yoon Chang Young (High School Return Of A Gangster)

Slot: Wednesday

Number Of Episodes: 8

Genre: Thriller, Medical, Crime

Synopsis: A brilliant and passionate neurosurgeon loses her medical license and she is cast aside by her mentor without hesitation. She then resorts to performing illegal surgeries in the shadows. Years later, an unexpected turn of events brings them back together.

Thoughts: Led by a strong cast and an intriguing plot, this show sounds interesting. But I’m not really into medical dramas. So it’s up in the air if I’ll give this a try.

Villains Everywhere

Premiere Date: March 19

Network: KBS

Stars: Oh Na Ra (My Sweet Mobster), Park Young Kyu (Run On), So Yoo Jin (Bel Ami), Seo Hyun Chul (Welcome to Samdal-ri), Song Jin Woo (Strong Girl Namsoon)

Slot: Wednesday & Thursday

Number Of Episodes: 12

Genre: Sitcom, Family

Synopsis: It’s about the everyday lives of two spirited sisters and their eccentric families.

Thoughts: This one sounds fun with an eclectic cast.

Heo’s Restaurant / Heo’s Diner

Premiere Date: March 24

Network: Netflix

Stars: Xiumin (K-pop group EXO; Boss-dol Mart), Lee Sae On (Boss-dol Mart), Lee Soo Min (Revenge Of Others), EXY (K-pop group WJSN)

Slot: Monday & Tuesday

Number Of Episodes: 10

Genre: Comedy, Romance, Fantasy

Synopsis: A man from the Joseon era travels 400 years into the present time and unintentionally starts a restaurant.

Thoughts: The reverse version of time travel dramas like Mr. Queen and Faith! This one seems to have potential for comedy and adventure with the ‘fish-out-of-water’ trope hijinks.

The Divorce Insurance

Premiere Date: March 31

Network: tvN

Stars: Lee Dong Wook (Tale Of The Nine Tailed 1938), Lee Kwang Soo (The Killer’s Shopping List), Lee Joo Bin (Queen Of Tears), Lee Da Hee (Love Is For Suckers)

Slot: Monday & Tuesday

Number Of Episodes: 12

Genre: Comedy, Romance, Drama

Synopsis: A man has gone through three divorces and has lost both his money and his soul in the process. He works in the innovative product development team of an insurance company where he develops a new divorce insurance product.

Thoughts: I like the cast and I think this could be a zippy, frolicsome workplace rom-com.
