My Beautiful Bride ~ She Did Not Leave Me! I Will Find Her!

♦ She’s Having My Baby! Where Did She Go?

In “My Beautiful Bride”, Kim Do Hyung, a bank executive, is looking forward to having dinner with his beautiful bride-to-be, Yoon Joo Young. She said she had something to tell him. What could it be? He had already proposed marriage. Is there more? She asked him to bring home fried chicken. OK! He readily agreed. After work, Kim Do Hyung stopped at the restaurant, picked up the fried chicken, and headed home. He was thrilled! Excited! Anticipating … ??? … he didn’t know to expect but Yoon Joo Young was going to tell him something, and the tone of her voice on the phone sounded happy!

But when he arrived at their apartment, it was dark. The lights were off, and there was no sound. When he turned the lights on, he could see that food had been left on the counter. But he did not see Yoon Joo Young anywhere. She had mysteriously disappeared. WHY? WHERE? WHY?? He went to see her mother. The mother, her brother, and the sister-in-law all lived together. They said they didn’t know where Yoon Joo Young was. But it was very odd. The mother kept apologizing, saying she was sorry. But she wouldn’t reveal anything else. Did she know something or not?

Since the family didn’t know anything, Kim Do Hyung went to the police to report his fiancée as a missing person, However, he wasn’t family, so he couldn’t file a missing person report. He got her brother to come back with him to the station, and they filed a report. And then … ??? And then they have to wait. After all, Yoon Joo Young is a grown woman. There isn’t much to suggest foul play. Maybe she just ran away.  A simple case of pre-wedding jitters.

The brother returned to his home. Kim Do Hyung went with him, and they sat down to discuss what could have possibly happened. The brother’s wife told him she found a pregnancy test that indicated Yoon Joo Young was pregnant. The brother was surprised. That was news to him! He asked Kim Do Hyung if he knew. Kim Do Hyung said yes. But it was a lie. He had no idea his beautiful bride was also pregnant. Is that what he wanted to tell him? Well then, where did she go? Why wasn’t she at home when he got there? She wouldn’t just leave him knowing she was pregnant! It doesn’t make any sense.

Meanwhile, back at the police station, Cha Yoon-Mi, a female detective who had worked on an undercover case and successfully brought the criminal to justice, glanced at the photo of the woman in the missing person report. Oh no! She recognized the face. It was her informant, the woman who had helped her gather evidence to put the criminal behind bars. The woman was the beautiful bride, i.e., Yoon Joo Young. She had been the girlfriend of the crime boss who went to jail. This can’t be an ordinary missing person’s case.

Cha Yoon-Mi informed the team that she would be taking charge of this case and conducting a thorough investigation regarding the missing woman’s whereabouts. Suddenly, there are a lot of unanswered questions.

• Had her informant’s identity been exposed?
• Had she been kidnapped? Was this an act of revenge?
• Who is this guy insisting he is her fiancé? Is he telling the truth?
• Did he not know anything about his beautiful bride’s dark past?
• What will he do if he finds out that his beautiful bride was once entangled in the dangerous underworld of gangsters and loan sharks AND her past has come back to haunt her?
• AND …?? And Yoon Joo Young is carrying his baby, which means his baby is in danger too!

“My Beautiful Bride” is intense! The male lead won my heart instantly. I rooted for him all the way! He was a mind-mannered bank guy who was totally out of his element. He clearly did not belong in the underworld. Oh, the things you are willing to do for love. You’ll go to hell if you can bring back the woman you love. “When a Man Loves a Woman”. Right?
