Multipurpose Spinning Alloys Now On Kickstarter – Popgeeks

AdminFebruary 27, 2025

Austin-based Notion Builds LLC is offering a new product: spinning metal alloys. They might not seem THAT new, but what you can do with them is: Notion Builds has marked them so they can take the place of traditional TTRPG dice.

Here’s how that works: you hold the core and spin the alloy. Then, while it’s spinning, you stop it, and align the arrow to the nearest number. Some purists might prefer dice to this and it’s not like dice and alloys don’t take up the same amount of space, so it’s really a matter of preference.

But the alloys don’t HAVE to be dice….they can be rolling rulers! Similar tools are used by professionals to calculate the surface measurement of round or curved objects. You roll the alloy across the object you want to measure, count the number of rotations and multiply it by 100 mm. Alloys can also function as fidget spinners if you need one.

Notion Builds’s alloys are being offered as multiple metal types. Some weigh more than others. Aluminum is the lightest at 20 gms, while copper is the heaviest at 55 gms. Some are also more expensive than others: the cheapest tier is the aluminum or stainless steel alloy at $19, followed by the brass or bronze alloy at $25. Copper and titanium cost $29.

Whatever you want to do with the alloys, the crowdfund is open, and will remain open until April 3. Check them out here for further info.
