Last year Apple TV launched a television series meant to expand the world of WB and Legendary’s Monsterverse films: you know, the ones that star Godzilla, King Kong, or both Godzilla and King Kong at the same time. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters did pretty well in its first season and Apple quickly ordered a second (as an aside, they really should’ve given Mythic Quest at least one more season, darnit).
No one knows when the second season of Monarch will show up, but you’ll be able to fill the gap soon with a new comic book by Legendary Comics and Rocketship. Monarch: The Lost Adventures is a graphic novel anthology depicting the unseen adventures of Lee Shaw, Billy Randa, Keiko, Kentaro, Cate, and May — and we’re told big boys like Kong, the Brambleboar, and The Ion Dragon could drop in for a visit or two. The Kickstarter campaign for the book launched yesterday.
“This anthology is a love letter to fans of MONARCH and the larger Monsterverse,” says Robert Napton, SVP & Publisher at Legendary Comics. “Each story reveals pivotal, untold moments that add rich new layers to the characters and mythology. We’re thrilled to team up with Rocketship to bring this experience straight to the fans who helped make MONARCH a hit.”

You can get Monarch: The Lost Adventures in digital PDF form with a $15 pledge, or in physical form with a $40 pledge. Variants with Kickstarter-exclusive covers are also available for $48. The campaign wraps May 15, but the books are very much still in production and won’t ship until the summer of 2026. Hope the show isn’t cancelled by then.
