KDramaHQ AdminMarch 31, 2025

“Misty” is a 2018 Korean drama series, with 16 episodes, categorized as Thriller, Suspense, Crime, Mystery, Legal Drama, and Romance; and streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Tubi, and KOCOWA+.

SUMMARY: A man and his wife are drifting apart but she becomes a suspect for the murder of her former lover, he decides to be her lawyer and defend her. It’s not the usual way people heal their broken hearts.

I Regret Marrying You, But If You’re Innocent, I Won’t Regret Defending You

In “Misty”, Go Hye-Ran is a famous news anchor, but she’s getting old. Isn’t it time she stepped aside and let a younger news anchor take her position? Uuhhh … NO! Go Hye-Ran says she’ll leave when she’s ready and she’ll leave on her own terms. Nevertheless, people at her job conspire to get her removed and almost succeed. But Go Hye-Ran promises to get an exclusive interview with a famous Korean golfer. She tells her boss that once she does that, then she’ll leave her career as a news anchor in a blaze of glory.

It was a bluff. Many people had been trying to land an interview with the golfer and nobody had gotten him to agree. But Go Hye-Ran had too much pride to let backstabbing employees push her out of her job. She had to figure how to make good on her promise or she was going to leave her position IN SHAME.

Would you believe it? The famous golfer turned out to be her former lover who married her best friend from high school. She knew him by a different name, but recognized him immediately and she recognized her friend from high school as well. It was a shock to learn that the man she dumped because he was a nobody who would interfere with her plans to become somebody, became a famous somebody who had married her best friend, who was a nobody!

It could have been a plot for a soap opera!

On top of that, Go Hye-Ran married Kang Tae-Wook, who by society’s standards was a somebody, but he gave up his prestigious job as a prosecutor to work as a public defender. He has not been very successful since he made his career change and was on his way to becoming a nobody. In addition, he deeply regrets having married Go Hye-Ran.

He did not realize how cold-hearted and selfish she was until she told him that she had aborted their baby. She said she could have a baby later, but this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to become a news anchor. Nothing was going to get in her way, not even his innocent baby.

Go Hye-Ran regained her composure, pushed her shock aside, and her survival instincts kicked in. She promised her boss she would get an exclusive interview with the famous golfer. So she took advantage of her relationship with her naive and clueless “bestie” and asked if she could get her husband to agree to an interview. Of course, her friend was happy to ask her husband for a favor. Of course, her husband agreed. He couldn’t pass on the opportunity to look Go Hye-Ran directly in her face and take a few subtle jabs at her ON LIVE TV! “Yeah! Look at me now! I’m Mr. Nobody! The guy you dumped! Remember?”

Not sure exactly what happened, but … the famous golfer ended up DEAD! The police detective suspects her because her broach was found in the vehicle. It was the broach her husband had brought for her as a gift when he found out she was pregnant. Why was it in the dead man’s car? There are two possible answers. Go Hye-Ran is a murderer OR somebody wants to frame her as a murderer. Her husband, Kang Tae-Wook, decides to defend her.

I rarely find a review of a Korean drama on GMA Entertainment. I agree with the four (4) reasons spelled out in their review: cast, plot, soundtrack, and awards. Yep! Those are good reasons to watch this K-drama.
