“Mary Kills People” Promises High-Stakes Premiere in Latest Gripping Teaser Reveal – kdramadiary

MBC’s upcoming Friday-Saturday drama Mary Kills People has just dropped a pulse-raising Savior Teaser—and it’s nothing short of electrifying.

Premiering on August 1, Mary Kills People follows the haunting double life of Woo So-jung (Lee Bo-young), a doctor who offers assisted death to terminal patients, and the detective on her trail. This suspense-packed drama explores the razor-thin line between compassion and crime, asking: Is she a savior—or a killer?

Helmed by Park Joon-woo, known for his adrenaline-fueled direction in Taxi Driver and Crash, and penned by Lee Soo-ah, celebrated for her emotionally rich scripts (The Laws of Sensuality, My Special Brother), the series boasts an all-star cast including Lee Bo Young, Lee Min Ki, and Kang Ki Young. Expectations are soaring.

The newly released teaser plunges viewers into a world of moral ambiguity and high-stakes tension. It opens with Woo So-jung standing alone in a dimly lit operating room, her expression solemn as surgical tools glint under sudden light. “I am a doctor,” she says—just as a syringe fizzes into a champagne glass, hinting at the chilling elegance of her choices.

The teaser masterfully blends sensual visuals with unsettling tension. A glass of champagne is passed, a patient writhes in pain, and the words “Doctor who ends suffering” flash across the screen. Later, in a hushed moment by the sea, So-jung answers, “It usually ends in an instant,” when asked how long it takes. Her cool tone is hauntingly calm.

But the real gut punch comes when two stark phrases—“A savior to some” and “A murderer to others”—collide on screen as Woo So-jung, now holding a gun with trembling hands, fights back tears.

The teaser ends with a symbolic shot of a Virgin Mary statue as Woo So-jung, called “Maria” by an unseen voice, replies with quiet finality: “I’m not Maria anymore.”

According to the production team, this teaser was designed to capture the show’s distinct blend of emotional complexity and moral suspense. “Mary Kills People will deliver a fresh take on the suspense genre, backed by powerful performances and a bold narrative,” they shared.

Brace yourselves Mary Kills People premieres Friday, August 1 at 10 PM on MBC, promising a thought-provoking, high-voltage ride from the very first episode.
