Earlier this year Sega revealed SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance, a revival of the classic jump-and-slasher series in its original pure form. Those wondering if there would be a physical edition got their answer today when Limited Run Games announced a deal with Sega to produce boxed editions for all consoles. Playstation 5, Nintendo Switch and XBox will each get their own version.
Play as the legendary Shinobi Joe Musashi, master of the ninja arts. After finding your village burned to the ground and your clan turned into stone, you must set off on a quest for vengeance, ready to face an unparalleled evil and avenge your clan.
We’re still waiting on specific details, like when preorders will open for SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance, when they’ll ship, or what the Collector’s Edition you know is coming will be like. The digital game releases this August, barring any delays.
On this same day, Limited Run also revealed they’re the ones who will produce physical editions of Konami’s Gradius Origins, which was just announced today. The collection contains the arcade versions of Gradius, Salamander, Life Force, Gradius 2, Gradius 3, and Salamander 2 — and even a new sequel, Salamander 3. Again, LRG is covering all three consoles: Playstation 5, Nintendo Switch and XBox, but this time there’s the added bonus of three different covers, which you can pick from.
A variety of all-new quality of life features have been added to GRADIUS ORIGINS, including quick save/load functions, a rewind feature, and Invincible Mode. A new Training Mode lets players adjust settings like restart points, loop counts, and power-up statuses to help hone their skills to perfection. There’s also a gallery feature that includes music from the games, a selection of images from each title, and plenty more to discover.
This time, we know what the Collector’s Edition will be like. It’ll be as massive as space and contain the following bonuses:
Preorders for the physical version of Gradius Origins are now open at the Limited Run website. The digital version is due out August 7.
