Court is in Session! JTBC’s new legal series, Esquire, announces its powerhouse cast and eagerly anticipated premiere!

JTBC has officially confirmed that its upcoming weekend drama Esquire: Lawyers Dreaming of Becoming Lawyers (LT) (hereafter Esquire) will premiere on August 2, with a star-studded lineup led by Lee Jin Wook, Jung Chaeyeon, Lee Hak Joo, and Jeon Hye Bin.

Set against the backdrop of a prestigious law firm, Esquire promises an inspiring blend of ambition, heart, and personal growth.

This character-driven office drama follows Kang Hyo-min, portrayed by Jung Chaeyeon, a bright-eyed rookie lawyer at Yullim Law Firm. Fiercely idealistic yet socially awkward, Hyo-min is determined to prove herself in the cutthroat world of litigation.

Guiding her through the complexities of legal life is Yoon Seok-hoon (Lee Jin Wook), a brilliant but emotionally reserved partner lawyer who hides sincerity beneath his steely exterior. As the two navigate difficult cases and personal hurdles, a powerful mentorship begins to unfold.

Lee Jin Wook steps into the role of Seok-hoon, a cold but sharp courtroom tactician who thrives on thinking beyond legal conventions. With his gravitas and restrained charisma, he’s expected to bring both edge and depth to the character. Meanwhile, Jung Chaeyeon’s portrayal of Hyo-min offers a vibrant counterbalance — a lawyer who might lack polish but shines with raw instincts and gutsy determination.

Rounding out the cast are Lee Hak Joo as Lee Jin-woo, a lighthearted and supportive associate who bridges the gap between seniors and juniors with warmth and wit, and Jeon Hye Bin as Heo Min-jeong, a late-blooming lawyer who entered the field later in life and brings grit, wisdom, and drive to the courtroom.

During the first script reading, the cast already demonstrated their synergy. Lee Jin-wook’s stoic intensity, Jung Chae-yeon’s fresh energy, Lee Hak-joo’s playful delivery, and Jeon Hye-bin’s commanding presence set the tone for the ensemble’s dynamic chemistry.

The production team expressed their excitement, saying, “Each actor immersed themselves in their role from the very first read-through, perfectly capturing their characters’ unique voices. Esquire will deliver not just laughs and legal drama, but heartfelt stories that resonate deeply.

Featuring a rich mix of personalities and emotionally resonant storytelling, Esquire is shaping up to be a standout legal drama this summer. Mark your calendars — the courtroom opens on August 2, only on JTBC.
