JTBC has unveiled the first teaser poster for its upcoming Friday drama The Nice Guy, offering a glimpse into the emotionally charged story set to begin airing on July 18.

The moody visual captures Lee Dong Wook sitting alone in an empty subway car, eyes heavy with quiet sorrow, setting the tone for a drama brimming with introspection, grit, and heart.

The Nice Guy is a sentimental noir that tells the story of Park Seok-cheol, the eldest grandson of a third-generation gangster family who unexpectedly carries a gentle heart. Despite being born into a life of crime, he once dreamed of becoming a novelist—and now, he dares to chase that dream again. His journey takes a dramatic turn when he reunites with his first love, Kang Mi-young (played by Lee Sung Kyung), an aspiring singer who has never let go of her own ambitions.

RELATED STORY

As the two rekindle their connection and navigate a path full of sacrifice, broken dreams, and resilience, the drama promises to blend poignant romance with gripping realism. The poster’s tagline, “It’s okay if my life is a little ruined,” hints at the emotional stakes Seok-cheol faces, raising curiosity about what—or who—he’s willing to fight for.

Helming the project is a powerhouse creative team: director Song Hae-sung, known for nuanced films like Failan and Our Happy Time, teams up with Park Hong-soo of Lost. The script is co-written by Kim Woon-kyung (Yuna’s Street, The Moon of Seoul) and Kim Hyo-seok (Opposition Party), promising a richly layered narrative.

Produced by Hive Media Corp, the studio behind hits like Inside Men, Deliver Us From Evil, and The Man Standing Next, the drama is also backed by a stellar cast that includes Park Hoon, Oh Na-ra, Ryu Hye-young, and Chun Ho-jin.

Park Seok-cheol’s story is not just one of crime and survival—it’s about finding redemption, reclaiming lost dreams, and discovering love amid chaos.

According to the production team, “The Nice Guy’s narrative—Seok-cheol’s pursuit of a new life and love in the face of adversity—will deliver heartfelt empathy and moments of warmth. Viewers can look forward to an emotional noir that spans fierce action and tender melodrama, anchored by Lee Dong-wook’s powerful performance.”

The Nice Guy premieres on July 18 and will air two episodes every Friday night on JTBC. Prepare to be moved by a drama that’s equal parts raw, romantic, and relentlessly human.
