JTBC has released a new teaser for its upcoming romantic fantasy Heavenly Ever After. Starring Kim Hye-ja (Our Blues) and her much younger appearing husband Sohn Seok-gu (A Killer Paradox), the show boasts a whimsical topic about a mismatched couple and their exploration of life after death.
Opening with a narration from Cheon Ho-jin (The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract), the afterlife center director asks the crowd if they have died before. It’s a rhetorical question since everyone present would not be here if it wasn’t so, including our leading lady Lee Hae-sook (Kim Hye-jae).
At first, Hae-sook looks lost in her stark white environment as she rides the train to heaven, but the director greets her personally and explains how this place is for healing the scars from the past. Hae-sook sits in a room with others like her as she prepares to revisit her life and is transported to the places and people she once knew.
The director tells Hae-sook that her answers lie within her pain, and she gets another chance to see familiar faces including Han Ji-min (Love Scout), Lee Jung-eun (Light Shop), and Ryu Deok-hwan (LTNS). These moments make Hae-sook realize what kind of life she lived even if she didn’t know at the time.
Besides reliving her past, Hae-sook reunites with her husband Go Nak-jun (Sohn Seok-gu), and as they walk beneath an awning of trees, he tells her that everyone in heaven has a duty to find happiness. He hopes she will be happy and offers his hand out to her. If she would close her eyes and pretend to fall for his trick once more, he will take her to another world, and just as she believed him back then, she does so again in death.
Scripts penned by Lee Nam-kyu (Daily Dose of Sunshine) and Kim Su-jin with PD Kim Seok-yoon (Behind Your Touch) at the helm , JTBC’s Heavenly Ever After is slated for twelve episodes and premieres in April in the Saturday-Sunday slot.
