The promo pot has been set to boil for ENA’s new rom-com Tastefully Yours, simmering an opposites-attract romance in a countryside kitchen for Kang Haneul (Squid Game 2) and Go Min-shi (The Frog) in the first poster and video teaser.
Now, our hero Han Beom-woo (Kang Haneul) doesn’t hail from the hills. He’s an archetypal chaebol heir and can’t bear to live with the shame that comes with his fine dining restaurant being awarded a mere one star. That’s hardly enough to be called prestigious and this puts him on a hunt all over the nation, searching for star-worthy recipes to boost his restaurant into the coveted three stars.
The teaser thus begins with Beom-woo traveling to a far corner in Jeonju, where our ~genius~ chef Mo Yeon-joo (Go Min-shi) runs a small fine dining restaurant. When our heroine begins cooking, though, Beom-woo can sense that she won’t be won over easily, detecting a fiery temper that matches her advanced culinary skills.
But then Beom-woo takes a bite and he’s hilariously struck dumb, instinctively declaring in his head that, “I must have her it,” before slapping himself out of the daze. Understandably, Yeon-joo decides that he must actually be crazy. However, the real trouble begins when Beom-woo makes his offer to steal buy her recipes.
Although Yeon-joo puts on a smile to rip up the contract in response, she’s riled up in righteous fury, appalled by the people who think they can make good food when they’re only obsessed over money. This doesn’t mean that Beom-woo will back down (at least not yet) and the teaser closes on our bickering pair. But we all know that the end game will be ~love~.
With production for ENA’s Tastefully Yours led by PD Park Dan-hee (Weak Hero Class 1) and writer Jung Su-yoon (Hope or Dope), the series is slated to follow New Recruit 3 in the Monday-Tuesday slot, premiering next month on May 12.
