You know that drawer? The one in the kitchen that’s filled with an eclectic, yet essential, array of random items like rubber bands, random tools, extra ketchup packets, and take-out chopsticks?! Well, I’ve got a playlist much like *that* drawer! It’s home to all the songs I’ve saved, that don’t quite fit into any of my other carefully curated collections. This Valentine’s Day, let’s give a little love to some special tracks — will you join me??
Tangled is perhaps my favorite Disney movie of all time, so I was absolutely delighted to see this cover from the exceptionally talented Lee Soo Hyun. The song is just as fun in Korean, and the mini-tour of Seoul with Mickey & Friends in the MV is too cute!!
It’s no secret that I love a good choreo performance and this Show Champion stage from P1Harmony was fantastic! Working with props for a live show takes top-tier confidence — the smoothness of the dance and way they passed the hat from member to member proves this stage is much more than alright!
With a daughter as a music major, I very much appreciate ALL forms of music and the talent behind them. So when I saw this orchestral version of the super popular Red Velvet song, I was intrigued and impressed! Not only is the arrangement wonderful, but the story of the dancers in the MV was captivating as well.
PLAVE has fascinated me for some time. Behind the animated characters are actual singers and dancers, providing vocals and choreography tracking for the animation of their MVs. While the group promotes as their perfectly polished alter-egos, the artists get to keep their anonymity. K-Pop is ever evolving and this next era of ‘fictional’ idols is certainly very interesting!
Japanese singer-songwriter Imase teams up with fellow Japanese band Penthouse, for this live collaborative rendition of his hit song ‘Night Dancer’. There are so many elements to love, but the smooth blending of the three vocalists, and the jazzy, piano-led rendition of this pop track are my favorite features!
I stumbled upon this YouTube channel a while back and I was immediately drawn in by the unique sound of “Medieval K-Pop”. This song is one of many instrumental covers they have created, all perfect for playing in the background and subtly sharing your passion for K-Pop!
Thanks for joining me for this random play today — share your favorite ‘kitchen drawer’ songs with me in the comments!
Until the next playlist,
화이팅!
