K-Pop Playlist: Four Solos and a Boy Band

I never know what to expect with the weekly, new music drops. It seems I inherently lean towards dynamic group songs. But as I prepared today’s new playlist I was surprised (and excited) to see solo artists taking the lead with their fantastic new releases! G-Dragon and JiSoo definitely deliver, but don’t count out the rest of these featured artists! Ready to hit play?!

JISOO – ‘Earthquake’

BlackPink’s JiSoo is debuting her first solo EP! And this title-track from the new album, which explores the different stages of love, just gets more addictive each time I watch. From the surprise cameo in the intro, to the magnetic EDM dance beat, plus her sleek MV styling, it’s an instant hit!

WOOYOUNG – ‘Sagittarius’

ATEEZ’s WooYoung is the newest member to launch a special solo song, putting his heart and soul on full display! While the MV focuses on his smooth and charismatic choreography, his velvet vocals are equally poetic, and his passion for this project is clearly evident. It’s a beautiful gift — I’m a very proud ATINY!

ZEROBASEONE – ‘Blue’

The title of this newest release might evoke visions of a melancholic ballad, but I was most delighted to discover a bright and sunny pop track when I pushed play!! ZB1 brings a healthy dose of vibrant energy and harmonious vocals, plus a splash of tropical styling. They certainly know how to win my heart — I’m all in!!

G-DRAGON – ‘Drama’

It’s been great to see G-Dragon return to the Kpop scene! I loved his previous release, the energetic hype song ‘Home Sweet Home’. But ‘Drama’, from his new album drop, takes a completely different direction. It is a moody, piano-centric ballad, showcasing yet another facet of his musical artistry — G-Dragon knows how to create impactful imagery!

GYUBIN – ‘Like U 100’

I was captivated by the bubbly sound of rookie artist GyuBin, when she hit the music scene last year. And I’m happy to share, that exactly one year later, she is back with her first album! This title-track features an energetic, pop-rock sound, that allows her cheery, youthful vibe to shine brightly. It’s a bop and I love it!
