K-Pop Playlist: Drama and Spice and Everything Nice

It’s a diverse menu of K-Pop comebacks today! SB19 and Young Posse both dial up the drama in their cinematic music videos. ONEWE and W24 amp up the K-band beats to deliver exhilarating tracks. And last, but not least, BTOB wraps up the playlist with a sweet and melodious ballad. Ready to sample these new songs?! Let’s dive in!!

SB19 – ‘DAM’

It’s been a while since the members of Filipino pop group, SB19, released a new group album. But they are back full-force, with a rousing battle anthem!! Contrary to the dark imagery and heavy sound, it’s a war cry that rallies against giving up — the message promises that enduring and adapting WILL bring triumph. The music (and MV) may be intense, but I love the booming, larger-than-life feel this new title track embodies!!

Young Posse – ‘Cold (feat. 10CM)’

To be completely honest, I didn’t really pay attention to the song the first time I watched the MV. I was so caught up in the mini-drama happening on-screen, that the song felt more like an OST. On second listen, I focused on both the vocals of ladies of Young Posse, and 10CM. While the music feels calm and mellow, the lyrics lay bare the pain and hurt of betrayal — it’s both beautiful and sad.

ONEWE – ‘The Starry Night’

My heart is so happy! I love that the boys of ONEWE have released a new full-length album — the songs are all excellent! Title track, ‘The Starry Night’, captures their signature sound and delivers a spirited, fantastical trip through the heavens. Feeling a little jealous of friends who will see this amazing band, live, during their upcoming, North American tour!!

W24 – ‘Seize The Day’

This four-piece K-Band flashed onto my radar recently and I am enamored with the title track off their recent comeback EP! ‘Seize The Day’, with its funky, moody, alternative-rock beat, was an instant add to my playlist. I’ve also been exploring the rest of the album and wishing I had discovered this group sooner!

BTOB – ‘Love Today’

Whenever the members of BTOB come together, beautiful vocal harmonies are always guaranteed! ‘Love Today’ swoops in like a warm and comforting hug, with the accompanying MV bringing matching measures of empathy and hope. If you need a dose of sweet, encouraging vibes today, look no further!
