The Witch Episodes 3 and 4 Highlights

“Back then, I cried not knowing I was crying. That was an unspoken one-sided love. Nothing waits for anyone, especially love – it never waits.”

Energetic and sharp-minded, Dong-jin enrolls in university to study Statistics, determined to debunk the claims linking Mi-jung to deaths and accidents.

There, he befriends Joong-hyuk, who oddly reminds him of Mi-jung. During his first school break, he uncovers the painful truth about how the villagers forced Mi-jung to leave after her father’s passing. Overwhelmed by emotion, he rushes to her abandoned house, where he is struck by the deep ache of his unrequited love.

Back at school, his professor challenges his report on Mi-jung, prompting him to reevaluate his findings since he already made a conclusion and gathered data to fit the narrative he created. As he reexamines the details, he comes to a startling realization—Park Mi-jung is the one constant in all those tragic incidents.

“You always meant to meet people you’re meant to meet. If you ever meet her, instead of me, please tell her I’m sorry.”

As Dong-jin embarks on his career, he faces another heartbreak when his mother falls ill. He is shocked to learn from a realtor that she secretly purchased Mi-jung’s house and farmland.

When he asks why, his mother confesses her guilt for not protecting Mi-jung from the villagers who forced her to leave. Seeing the photos Dong-jin had taken of Mi-jung, she also worried about her son’s attachment to her.

Hoping to bring Mi-jung back by buying the house, she waited—but Mi-jung never returned. Moved by his mother’s regret, Dong-jin promises to seek out Mi-jung and apologize on her behalf.

“Just what my mom had wished, I will prove you are not a witch.”

Fulfilling his mother’s final wish, Dong-jin bids her farewell as she departs to reunite with his father, carried in a beautiful palanquin. He then discovers that his mother had read his challenged report on Mi-jung—and believed it completely.

Realizing this, he becomes even more determined to prove that Mi-jung is not a bringer of misfortune, setting out to uncover the truth once and for all.

He relocates to a new home right across from Mi-jung’s apartment and leaves his job behind.

Meanwhile, Mi-jung leads a quiet, solitary life, working from home as a captioner and translator while longing to escape to a breathtaking destination. Her closest friend, Eun-sil, a PD, remains by her side as her unwavering companion.

To achieve his goal of uncovering the truth and make life easier for Mi-jung, Dong-jin returns to their hometown where everything began.

The Witch Episodes 3 and 4 Musings

With its straightforward storyline, Dong-jin’s heartfelt emotions and unwavering determination can draw any viewer into his seemingly impossible journey. Reuniting with Mi-jung offers him a second chance to turn his one-sided love into a shared romance.

This week is still a slow-burning storytelling and hopefully, the pace will intensify next week with new developments like Dong-jin and Mi-jung finally meeting each other.

Interestingly, this drama’s conflict takes a refreshing turn because we won’t meet annoying villains. Viewers just need to prepare if Dong-jin can prove through Mathematics that Mi-jung’s plight is just coincidence. Of course, we also look forward to how love can blossom between them, and if he will not suffer the same fate.

The Witch airs on Channel A every weekend. International fans can watch it on Viu.
