My Dearest Nemesis Episodes 7 and 8 Highlights
“What now, then? Does he want to go out or something?”
Apologizing for forgetting about the kiss and asserting that he doesn’t regret it or deem it a mistake, Ju-yeon’s confession takes Su-jeong aback. Shy and awkward, Su-jeong makes a run for it and spends the night tossing and turning in denial. How could she have feelings for a guy the same age as her brother? There is no way she likes Ju-yeon, right? Don’t worry, sis, you are already head over heels for him, given how you dumped your blind date and couldn’t take Ju-yeon off your mind.
The next day at work, Su-jeong keeps avoiding Ju-yeon whenever they run into each other. Funnily enough, as she weighs up his pros and cons, there is no single trait Su-jeong likes about Ju-yeon yet there are various things she doesn’t like such as him being younger, his strange taste in music, …. etc. However, when Ju-yeon’s chaebol identity is exposed to the public, the vast gap in their social standing weighs on Su-jeong. It is as if they live in different worlds. So, she entirely shuts down the idea of dating Ju-yeon.

“Can you hold my hand and go outside?”
Demanding an answer for his confession, Su-jeong gives Ju-yeon a reality check. It isn’t like he can stand against the chairwoman and date her. So, pretending nothing happened might be the best course of action for both of them. Ju-yeon grasps that harsh reality too. But he can’t stop himself from getting jealous and following Su-jeong to a restaurant when Ju-yeon assumes she is going on a date with a man, only to run into Su-jeong’s family inside.
Prying on their family gathering, everyone can sense Ju-yeon’s interest in Su-jeong. But in a refreshing turn of events, Su-jeong’s brother isn’t that pleased that a chaebol likes his sister since he won’t stand for it if Ju-yeon breaks his sister’s heart. But winning over Su-jeong’s family might be the least of Ju-yeon’s worries now that the chairwoman is on the way to Ju-yeon’s house to check out his “study” a.k.a the secret lair where he keeps his favorite things.

Having experienced firsthand getting his cherished things burned off by the chairwoman, Ju-yeon starts panicking. Thinking on her feet, Su-jeong suggests they stall for time and move Ju-yeon’s things elsewhere. Enlisting some help from Shin-won and Ha-jin, Ju-yeon and Su-jeong buy some time. But unluckily, the chairwoman arrives before they can clear everything out.
Worried about Su-jeong, Ju-yeon tells her to hide while he distracts the chairwoman. Luckily, it works yet stumbling across Ju-yeon’s photo with his parents from the day of the accident, the chairwoman angrily hurls the photo on the floor, spouts her spiteful nonsense about Ju-yeon not having the right to miss his parents or keep their photo, and then storms out.
Heartbroken, Ju-yeon shares his story with Su-jeong in tears. Then, he confesses to liking her. Ju-yeon has always kept the things he likes a secret. So, he couldn’t tell Su-jeong about his feelings before, but he can’t hold it in anymore. (Side note: we wish Su-jeong had been vocal about the chairwoman being the villain here and Ju-yeon being a victim of her misdirected anger.)
“If so, I will become your biggest secret.”
Returning home, all Su-jeong can think about is Ju-yeon and how he risked everything to come and see her. Giving in to her feelings, Su-jeong goes to see Ju-yeon. Having confirmed he will be okay with anything as long as he has her. Su-jeong admits to liking Ju-yeon too. After that, it is all holding hands and coming up with excuses to stay together for longer. Of course, it would have been much more fun if Ju-yeon and Su-jeong didn’t have to hide whenever they run into someone lest someone recognize Ju-yeon and their relationship get revealed.
Su-jeong’s brother figuring their relationship might be okay. Yet, at work, our leads should be cautious about not getting caught. But for someone who is an expert at hiding his private life from others, we think Ju-yeon has lost his touch and Su-jeong isn’t any better either. For now, the only thing that keeps our leads from getting caught is Su-jeong’s reputation as Director Killer because Su-jeong’s acting when yelling at Ju-yeon is exaggerated and unconvincing.

Normally, the drawbacks of secret dating are played for fun. So, we appreciate the drama emphasizing how troublesome it is for Ju-yeon and Su-jeong, having to hide from others and being unable to act like any other couple. Things were going fine and even Ha-jin and Shin-won (who are now happily dating) seemed okay with our leads seeing each other, holding onto hope our leads won’t recognize their connection. But things happen and Su-jeong learns that Ju-yeon is Black Dragon. And judging by the look on their faces, things don’t look optimistic.
My Dearest Nemesis Episodes 7 and 8 Musings
This turn of events is inevitable. But we don’t want to see our leads separated because of that. Lying about his age is surely wrong. But other than that, Ju-yeon did nothing wrong to hurt Su-jeong and supported her to the best of his ability when she had no one to lean on. Come on, show, a mature and honest conversation should be enough to clear the air. Don’t tear our leads apart over that.
On the other hand, the chairwoman is the actual threat and will surely wreak havoc once she finds out about our leads’ relationship or Ju-yeon’s dual life. That woman has a new low every week and Ju-yeon should break free from her and take the reins of his life. Instead of a cliche breakup, we want to see Ju-yeon’s character growth and our leads having each other’s backs in the fight against the chairwoman.
