Episode Recaps: 01&02 |
Previously, Dong-ju was lured to where Manager Yoo was celebrating his new role. It turns out he was planned to be killed by Yeom Jang-seon.
“I don’t want to die, sir. Please save me.”
Learning who ordered for his life, Dong-ju bumps into Yeom Jang-seon’s right hand and brings him to his lair. He strikes a deal for a second chance at life, promising the National Patriotic Fund coveted by the corrupt politician.
Dong-ju goes to his friend while feigning he’s just home. He already knew Jang-seon put a tracker on him.
His friend agrees they hack into Jang-seon’s computer from the trap that his hacker friend created.
Meanwhile, Dong-ju also arranges to meet Chairman Cha’s illegitimate son and requests some time off. During a family dinner invitation, Eun-nam arrives with a black eye, expressing her reluctance to return to her husband’s home. Shortly after, her husband appears with a walking aid.
After a conversation with Eun-nam, Chairman Cha sends her husband home, and Dong-ju sneaks into Eun-nam’s room to check on her, providing her with a burner phone for discreet communication between them.
“Director Seo hacked the Swiss account and changed the password.”
Following his plan, Dong-ju successfully hacks into Jang-seon’s account and changes the password. He also arranges a date for him and Eun-nam to elope, but hired men intercept her before she can reach the rendezvous point.
While recording a video of himself on a supposed date, Dong-ju is caught off guard when a man suddenly approaches and fires a gun at him. Desperately swimming for his life, he is pursued until the gunman sees his body sinking deep into the water and assumes he is dead.
Jang-seon celebrates Dong-ju’s apparent demise, only to be interrupted by his aide, who informs him that his account is now inaccessible. Enraged, he blackmails President Huh, the gunman who shot Dong-ju, into returning the lost money by revealing incriminating photos of him supposedly killing Dong-ju.
Meanwhile, it is revealed that Chairman Cha ordered the men to stop Eun-nam from meeting Dong-ju.
Fearing Jang-seon’s threat of losing his company, President Huh sets his sights on Chairman Cha’s hidden slush fund and attempts to steal the vault password—only to discover that it has already been changed.
In desperation, President Huh wishes for Dong-ju to return somehow. Miraculously, elsewhere, Dong-ju opens his eyes.
Director Huh tries to open his father-in-law’s safe to quell Jang-seon’s rage. However, the vault password is wrong.
Later when he meets Chairman Yang, he shares his worries and the old man offers help by getting some money from his own vault.
Unfortunately, the vault password is not working. Unknown to them, Chairman Yang’s daughter, Gukhui retrieved the Post-it note with the passwords. Aside from her, only Dong-ju with a photographic memory knows the passwords.
Haunted by what he did to Dong-ju, Director Huh grapples with his wife’s anxieties about removing Dong-ju from the equation, fearing Chairman Yang’s illegitimate son will usurp their son’s rightful inheritance. Huh reassures her that Dong-ju is no longer a threat.
Meanwhile, Dong-ju awakens, famished and with no memory of his past.
“Just wait. I’m coming to kill you.”
Using his mobile phone to trace his identity, Dong-ju unexpectedly ends up reaching Hui-cheol. Meanwhile, Eun-nam pleads with her grandfather, hoping to avoid returning to Yeom’s residence.
Hui-cheol hands the phone over to Eun-nam’s mother, who later informs her husband that Dong-ju attempted to contact their daughter.
Elsewhere, Dong-ju receives a call from President Huh and immediately turns aggressive, convinced that the voice on the other end belongs to his murderer. Unaware that Dong-ju has lost his memories, President Huh listens in confusion as he is bombarded with harsh curses.
At the same time, Jang-seon orders his aide, Guho, to track down Dong-ju—an effort mirrored by President Huh. The latter returns to the yacht Dong-ju had rented and unexpectedly encounters him. When he falls into the water, Dong-ju rescues him, but the ordeal leaves him with a fever.
Guho eventually locates the home of Dong-ju’s rescuer, but they manage to hide inside a bed frame just in time.
Back in the city, Dong-ju visits the boutique where his suit was made, hoping to uncover clues about his past. However, he leaves empty-handed. Unbeknownst to him, Eun-nam and Hui-cheol are also at the boutique at that very moment.
Buried Hearts thrives on chaos, where volatile characters collide in unpredictable ways. Hopefully, the series maintains its intensity without losing momentum as it unfolds.
Blending a compelling mix of flawed and unpredictable personalities, the story offers a refreshing contrast to the usual polished and predictable character arcs.

Before he can claim the love of his life, endless hurdles stand in his way.
