KBS has announced its next family drama Splendid Days (roughly translated), which will be about (you guessed it) splendid days. Whether those moments are in the present, past, or future, everyone has them once in their lives, and the show hopes to capture those wondrous times in this multigenerational family romance.
Headlining this weekender is Jung Il-woo (Good Job) as the competent Lee Ji-hyuk. Having found success in both love and work, Ji-hyuk is enterprising and collected but also humorous. However, his life only looks glamorous on the outside, and after experiencing rock bottom, he overcomes his hardships and searches for the true meaning of life.
Opposite Ji-hyuk is the bright Ji Eun-oh played by Jung In-sun (DNA Lover). Despite her difficult upbringing, she never lost her passion nor her zest for life, and now she manages a cafe while working as an interior designer. She once had a crush on Ji-hyuk, and though he rejected her feelings, she still remains by his side as his kind protector.
Contrary to the show’s leading lady, Yoon Hyun-min (Bora! Deborah) plays silver-spoon Park Sung-jae and the possible third leg of this love triangle. Thanks to his background and wealth of resources, the carefree and well-mannered Sung-jae appears to lack nothing, but inside, he harbors a deep loneliness. Thankfully, he does find a connection with Ji-hyuk and his family, but in the near future, he will have to decide which to keep in his life: love or friendship?
As for the production side, PD Kim Hyung-seok (Cheat on Me If You Can) takes the helm alongside writer So Hyun-kyung (Twenty Again) who worked with Kim previously on My Golden Life. KBS’s Splendid Days is set to premiere in August in the Saturday-Sunday slot following For Eagle Brothers.
