Lee Dong Wook was last seen in a comedy role in drama Divorce Insurance and now he is going to be seen in a serious one — his next drama is JTBC’s romance melo The Nice Guy (hope we don’t confuse it with almost similarly titled Nice Guy) and he plays the eldest grandson of a third-generation gangster family with an unexpectedly pure heart. The drama stars Lee Sung Kyung (Call It Love) opposite him.
Lee Dong Wook stars as a man who once dreamed of becoming a novelist like Ernest Hemingway but reluctantly turned to the gangster life to survive. Lee Sung Kyun plays his first love, a woman who is an aspiring singer.
I’m low -key looking forward to it as I like the main actors and I’m excited to see this pairing and to know more about the story. We have seen some gangster/romances in dramaland in the past like When A Man Falls in Love and recently, My Sweet Mobster.
The Nice Guy is penned by the screenwriter of Yoo Na’s Street and The Duo. It is premiering on July 18.
