JTBC announces lineup for second half of 2025 and new Friday time slot

JTBC’s Good Boy
The more the merrier with JTBC, which has just announced its launch of a new Friday slot to double its weekend offerings. Starting this July, JTBC will be airing an additional drama on Friday nights, alongside its Saturday-Sunday schedule. Good news – we get a sneak peek of what’s in store.
Lee Dong-wook, Lee Sung-kyung
Up first, we have Lee Dong-wook (The Divorce Insurance) in the titular role of The Good Man, a noir romance featuring the eldest grandson of a family that has been part of the criminal underworld for three generations. Against all expectations, he harbors an innocent soul and kind heart. Perhaps the melodious voice of his first love, the aspiring singer Lee Sung-kyung (Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 3), will lead him away from a life of crime.
Song Joong-ki, Chun Woo-hee, Seo Ji-hoon
The next stop on the romance train is My Youth, a melodrama centered around
Song Joong-ki (Reborn Rich) as he steps into the shoes of a former child actor, who has long left the chaos of the public spotlight behind. As an adult, he lives a quietly unassuming life as a novelist and florist. That is, until he reunites with Chun Woo-hee (The 8 Show), the ambitious team leader of an entertainment company who ends up disrupting our former star’s peace. With that, the two are made to face their past again. Penned by the scriptwriter of Run On, it seems we can expect a poignant tale of growth and healing. Also – Seo Ji-hoon (Tarot) is in the cast as second male lead!
Yoo Jae-myung, Seo Hyun-jin, Jang Ryul
Carrying on the theme of romance and growth, Seo Hyun-jin (Trunk) dons her doctor’s coat in Love Me, a remake of the Swedish television series by the same name. Though she’s a successful OB-GYN doctor who seems to have it all, she’s been struggling with loneliness ever since an incident had her running away from her crumbling family — including dad Yoo Jae-myung (Uncle Samshik) — seven years ago. Then the music producer Jang Ryul (The Scandal of Chunhwa) moves in next door, and as they begin to fill the empty spaces in each other’s lives, they also take the first step towards healing familial wounds.

That’s it for the Friday night lineup, but there’s more in the weekend fare. Breaking the mold of mellow lovelines, the action-comedy Good Boy will burst onto the screen with the vivid colors of a motley crew. Comprised of former Olympic medalists, this special police unit has troublemaker boxer Park Bo-gum (When Life Gives You Tangerines), former wrestler and unit leader Heo Sung-tae, discus thrower Tae Won-seok, obstinate fencer Lee Sang-yi (Spice Up Our Love), and sharpshooter Kim So-hyun (Serendipity’s Embrace). They’ll be challenging Oh Jung-se (When Life Gives You Tangerines) on the basis of the law, though who’s to say they can’t bring a little athletic prowess into the mix? Good Boy premieres this weekend on May 31.
Lee Jin-wook, Jung Chae-yeon
We’ll be dallying in the legal sphere a while longer, because next up is Esquire, a legal thriller of psychological warfare. With a cold but capable elite lawyer in Lee Jin-wook (Squid Game 3) and a righteous but bumbling new recruit in Jung Chae-yeon (Family By Choice), there’ll be no shortage of cases to keep us entertained. Will these two opposites clash like oil and water, or will they progress towards a middle ground together?
Kim Da-mi, Shin Ye-eun, Heo Nam-joon
Rewinding back to the past in A Hundred Memories, bus attendant Kim Da-mi (Nine Puzzles) steers us down memory lane in the 1980s. (Think bus attendant as in flight attendant.) As the eldest daughter of her family, she’s determined to support her mother, even if it means contending with motion sickness every day. Joining her for the ride is Shin Ye-eun (Jeongnyeon – The Star is Born) as her best friend and fellow attendant, alongside Heo Nam-joon (When the Stars Gossip) as their fateful first love.

Circling back to the present, The Story of Manager Kim stars Ryu Seung-ryong (Missing Crown Prince) as its titular office worker. Based on the novel and webtoon of the same name, the full title literally translates to “The Story of Manager Kim, a Seoul Homeowner and Major Corporation Employee.” With an outstanding sales record and consistent promotions, Manager Kim has everything going for him and his family. That is, until the figurative death of a salesman – the cracks in Manager Kim’s picture-perfect life start to show, and our protagonist begins to waver.
Park Seo-joon, Won Ji-Ahn
Last but certainly not least, we have Waiting for Godot Waiting for Gyeong-do, a romantic comedy featuring a couple who dated twice at 20 and 28 before ultimately breaking up. Now, they meet yet again — with Park Seo-joon (Gyeongseong Creature 2) as the journalist covering an affair scandal, and Won Ji-ahn (Squid Game 2) as the wife to the cheating man embroiled in the gossip.
With a 56% increase in viewership ratings for the first half of 2025, compared to the same period last year, it seems JTBC is on the rise. Hopefully, they can keep up this momentum with their new drama endeavors. What are you looking forward to from this upcoming batch?
