A grisly tale awaits us in the upcoming crime-horror by U+ Mobile TV, with a forensic pathologist Park Joo-hyun (Perfect Family) becoming our title’s Hunter with a Scalpel, in order to catch her serial killer father in the latest posters and video teaser.
As the trailer opens, we first backtrack to the past and it’s tragic but not too surprising to see the trauma in Seo Se-hyun’s (Park Joo-hyun) childhood, being exposed to terrible things – including some suspicious thread – that little children ought not to see or hear. It’s thus cruelly ironic to have dad Park Yong-woo (Tracer) dotingly wish his one and only daughter a happy birthday.
We then cut to present day, where the police and detective Kang Hoon (Dear Hyeri) are on the scene of a new murder case. And the presence of a particular thread makes them suspect that this could be the work of the infamous “Tailor” – a.k.a. Se-hyun’s dad. This puts our anxious heroine on edge, as she recognizes her dad’s handiwork, even though Yoon Jo-gyun (Park Yong-woo) is supposed to be dead.
A frustrated Jung Jung-hyun (Kang Hoon) can also sense that Se-hyun is hiding something from the police investigation and the new posters reveal the dark secret from her past: “Dad is the one who killed people, and I disposed the bodies.” Here enters the best dad devil himself and a smug Jo-gyun is sure that his daughter will come to his side. Thus, begins their three-way cat-mouse game and the teaser closes on Se-hyun’s remark: “Let’s play and have fun like we used to, Dad.”
Adapted from the same-titled novel written by Choi Yi-do, the series has PD Lee Jung-hoon (Ms. Ma, Nemesis) at the helm, with scripts co-penned by Jo Han-young, Park Hyun-shin, Hong Yeon-yi, and Jin Se-hyuk. Premiering in just over a week on this coming June 16, U+ Mobile TV’s Hunter with a Scalpel will be streaming internationally on Hulu and Disney+.
