Introducing the lunch crew from Law and the City

Premiering in just two weeks, tvN has released a character teaser for its office romance Law and the City featuring five associate attorneys who aren’t quite colleagues but lunchmates. While working under one roof but different firms, their shared lunch break unites them as they look past their differences to enjoy a meal together.

The teaser begins with Lee Jong-seok (Big Mouth) as forever associate Ahn Joo-hyung. He has been working at a firm for nearly a decade — nine years to be precise, according to our scrupulous lead — and has no plans of changing any time soon. Joo-hyung believes a salaried worker who does as told is best for the heart, so why fix something that isn’t broken?

In contrast, Moon Ga-young (My Dearest Nemesis) plays newcomer Kang Hee-ji who is still full of passion for her profession. She can make friends with anyone and begins the day with a smile unlike a certain grumpy pants.

The real extrovert in this group, though, is Jo Chang-won played by Kang Yoo-seok (Resident Playbook). Whenever Chang-won enters a room, he makes his presence known, and the others wonder how someone as energetic as him managed to get a perfect score on the CSAT. His image is so far away from the typical lawyer that Chang-won even jokes that he is actually an idol.

Bringing all these personalities together for lunch is Ryu Hye-young (Gangnam B-Side) as the group’s leader Bae Moon-jung. During meals, she takes charge with confidence, but at work, Moon-jung is known as the perpetually late attorney, always rushing through the hall with files in her arms.

Last but not least, Im Sung-jae (Newtopia) plays the money-grubbing Ha Sang-ki. Even when his boss drops new cases on his desk, as long as his bonus is big, Sang-ki will do it all with a smile plastered on his face.

As our five attorneys grow closer together despite their differences, their relationships start to blur and shift. The teaser ends with Hee-ji asking Joo-hyung why he only gets testy with her, and he asks if she thinks she is some sort of main character. His response leaves her flabbergasted, and Hee-ji wonders if he’s crazy.

Directed by PD Park Seung-woo (Adamas, Kairos) with lawyer-turned-writer Lee Seung-hyun penning the scripts, tvN’s Law and the City is slated for twelve episodes and premieres July 5 in the Saturday-Sunday slot.
