We sat down with Sooyoung and Gong Myoung to dive into their experiences, behind-the-scenes secrets, and the small quirks that shaped their characters (and maybe themselves, too).
When asked about her biggest challenge on set, Sooyoung doesn’t hesitate: “Honestly? Figuring out how to act drunk differently in every episode,” she laughs. “My character had a drinking scene nearly every time, and I didn’t want it to feel repetitive or cartoonish. It had to stay grounded.”
But the real standout memory for her? “There’s this scene in episode 1 where I had to spray water at my mom’s face like a fountain. It sounds funny now, but I wasn’t very good at it — so I actually practiced while showering. That’s probably what I remember most from filming!”
Gong Myoung, who plays a village doctor with a heart of gold, took a more methodical approach. “Since my character, Seo Ui Joon, is a doctor, I had a lot of conversations with the director about how to carry myself — how to speak, how to move. We really wanted him to feel trustworthy, both in a hospital and in everyday life.”
His trickiest moment? A lighthearted village scene. “There’s one where Ui Joon helps some elders and ends up singing. That mix of awkwardness and charm was actually hard to balance — but it was fun, too.”
Despite this being their first project together, Sooyoung and Gong Myoung clicked right away.
“He’s so considerate,” Sooyoung says warmly. “Just a really kind, grounded person. Working with him made everything easier — he’s not only a great actor, but a genuinely good human being. I feel lucky we got to partner for this.”
Gong Myoung agrees. “It honestly felt like we’d already worked together before,” he says. “Sooyoung has such a great personality that we connected very quickly. We supported each other naturally.”
When asked to describe each other in three words, the compliments continue to flow.
Sooyoung’s picks for Gong Myoung?
“Handsome guy. First love. All-around entertainer.”
Gong Myoung on Sooyoung?
“Smart. Reliable. Partner.”
In the show, Sooyoung’s character wrestles with alcohol dependency — but in real life?
“I don’t drink much at all,” she admits. “But when I do, I’m very particular about how I drink. Beer needs to be in a cold glass. Wine? I usually drink it from a tumbler that keeps it cool. The temperature matters to me.”
Gong Myoung, on the other hand, has a different kind of non-negotiable. “Sleep,” he says firmly. “I believe sleep is the best way to recharge. Lately, I’ve also started paying more attention to my health, taking vitamin supplements and trying to keep up a better routine.”
Sooyoung’s pick for the most meaningful scene is a deeply emotional one. “In episode 1, there’s a crying scene that was tough to film. It took time to really connect with where Geum Ju was emotionally. That made it harder — but also more rewarding.”
For Gong Myoung, it’s all about that pivotal shift in their relationship. “There’s a scene where Ui Joon finally opens up and expresses his feelings. It marks a real turning point, and I think both our characters come across beautifully in that moment.”
Whether it’s dousing a co-star with water or sharing heartfelt scenes that hit just right, Sooyoung and Gong Myoung make a compelling pair — both on and off-screen. Their camaraderie, attention to detail, and genuine respect for each other shine through, promising a drama filled with heart, humor, and humanity.
Keep your eyes on this duo — something tells us this won’t be the last time we see them lighting up the screen together.
