Less than two weeks after first shocking viewers with its psychopathic lead, Korean medical thriller “Hyper Knife” became the number one most-viewed Korean premiere on Disney+ in APAC, and globally this year, based on seven days of streaming.
First launched with a two-episode debut on March 19, “Hyper Knife” is a contemporary medical thriller with a syringe full of twists that follows Seok, a visionary neurosurgeon with unparalleled skill with a scalpel.
Addicted to the operating room and obsessed with honing her abilities, Seok suddenly finds herself shunned by her mentor and stripped of her medical license after uncovering a shocking truth.
Refusing to let go of her life’s work, Seok continues to carry out back-alley operations for some of society’s least desirable individuals until her former mentor comes asking for her help.
Torn between the chance to successfully carry out an impossible operation or exact her revenge on the man who stripped her of her future, find out what Seok decides in “Hyper Knife,” now streaming exclusively on Disney+.
Starring Park Eun-bin (“Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” “The King’s Affection”) as visionary neurosurgeon Jeong Seok, and Sul Kyung-gu (“Memoir of a Murderer,” “Oasis”) as her equally skilled former mentor, Choi Deok-he, “Hyper Knife” is written by Kim Sun-hee (“Quiz From God: Reboot”) and directed by Kim Jung-hyun (“After the Rain,” “My Fellow Citizens!”).
Park Eun-bin and Sul Kyung-gu were among the Korean stars who attended the 2024 Disney APAC Content Showcase in the Paiza collection at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands last November.
“Hyper Knife” is the latest Korean Original series to debut as part of the eagerly anticipated 2025 Disney+ Korea slate. Throughout the year, global audiences can look forward to other must-watch series including “Nine Puzzles,” a dark criminal mystery starring Kim Da-mi and Son Suk-ku; “Low Life,” a treasure hunting series starring Ryu Seung-ryong; international conspiracy series “Tempest” starring Gianna Jun, Gang Dong-won, John Cho, and Michael Gaston — and so much more.
