Hollywood Arts: A Victorious Spin-Off Without Tori Vega

KDramaHQ AdminMarch 11, 2025

Hollywood Arts is an upcoming revival of the popular teen sitcom Victorious, the show that helped launch the careers of Victoria Justice, Avan Jogia, Leon Thomas III, Elizabeth Gillies, Matt Bennett, and Ariana Grande. The original Nickelodeon series gained a strong fan following and even led to the spin-off Sam & Cat, a crossover with iCarly. Hollywood Arts is not just any high school—it’s a prestigious performing arts academy where students train in singing, acting, dancing, and other creative disciplines. Think of it as a mix between Fame and Glee, but with way more weird improv exercises and sushi-based vending machines.

The school is known for nurturing young talent, though occasionally, baffling admissions choices (looking at you, Trina) have left audiences wondering if there was a clerical error somewhere.
The premise of Victorious followed Tori Vega, a teenager who unexpectedly found herself admitted into Hollywood Arts. When her sister Trina suffered an allergic reaction that prevented her from performing, Tori was encouraged by André to take her place. Having heard the song repeatedly during rehearsals, she delivered an outstanding performance, earning her a spot at the prestigious performing arts school. A running joke throughout the series was the mystery of how Trina, who lacked noticeable talent, managed to gain admission to the school in the first place. Seriously, did she bribe the admissions office? Did they mistake her for someone else? The world may never know.

Despite its popularity, both Victorious and Sam & Cat were eventually canceled. One major reason was the success of the cast members, many of whom moved on to larger opportunities in music, television, and film. Additionally, the show’s creator, Dan Schneider, became embroiled in various controversies, leading to his departure from Nickelodeon. His reputation made it unlikely that any reboot or continuation under his leadership would be considered. On the bright side, at least the actors don’t have to endure any more creepy foot fetish skits disguised as “comedy.” No more weird close-ups of toes or bizarre foot-related challenges—just good old-fashioned teen sitcom shenanigans.

How Trina got in Hollywood Arts?

With Nickelodeon heading in a new direction, Hollywood Arts will bring a fresh take on the Victorious world—this time without its original main character, Tori Vega. Since Victoria Justice is not returning for a full-time role, the series will instead focus on Trina, portrayed by Daniella Monet. In the original show, Trina was Tori’s older sister and often acted as an antagonist, frequently teasing and belittling her sibling. She was also hilariously oblivious to her lack of talent, wholeheartedly believing she was destined for stardom. Her confidence was inspiring, really—if only she had the vocal ability to back it up. In one memorable episode, her dramatic performance was unintentionally viewed as a comedy by the audience, proving that Trina was a star… just not in the way she intended.
However, Hollywood Arts will present a more evolved version of Trina, giving her character greater depth. This time around, she is returning to Hollywood Arts—not as a student, but as a teacher. Yes, the same person who once terrorized eardrums is now responsible for shaping young performers. With more life experience and growth, she will now mentor a new generation of aspiring artists. Daniella Monet, a skilled actress and singer, brings new potential to Trina’s character, and with the time jump, audiences may finally see whether Trina has developed genuine talent. Maybe, just maybe, she can finally carry a tune without sending people running for cover. The show will explore her journey, offering a fresh and comedic take on her progression.
Fans have been curious about whether Victoria Justice will make a return.

Victoria Justice Involvement:

When asked about a potential cameo, Justice told Entertainment Tonight, “You never know, like maybe you know Tori will pop in for an episode. Who knows? Never say never.” While she has chosen not to reprise her role as a lead, she expressed her happiness for Daniella Monet, adding, “But I’m honestly just so happy for Daniella. I love her, and you know she deserves all the success and all the best.” If her schedule permits, fans might get to see a guest appearance from Tori Vega.
Many original cast members may also be open to returning in either recurring or guest roles now that the previous showrunner is no longer involved.

With Schneider out of the picture, the revival creates a new, drama-free environment where former cast members can revisit their beloved characters and engage with longtime fans. Of course, one big question remains: Would Ariana Grande ever return as Cat Valentine? Given that she’s now a multimillion-selling recording artist and an Oscar-nominated actress, it’s safe to say she’s far too big for this show. But hey, crazier things have happened! Maybe, just maybe, she’ll make a brief cameo for nostalgia’s sake. That is, if she can find time between world tours and blockbuster movies.
While details about the storyline and returning cast are still under wraps, Hollywood Arts aims to recapture the essence of Victorious while introducing fresh stories and characters for a new audience. Given that most of the original cast members are now in their 30s, it’s highly likely that a new generation of teen characters will take center stage, with Trina and other potential returning characters serving as mentors.
With Hollywood’s increasing focus on nostalgic reboots, Hollywood Arts has the potential to resonate with both longtime fans and a new generation. Whether it will reach the success of its predecessor remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—the legacy of Victorious lives on.
